        The movie sucked.
Two people showed up to the movie last night and were so psyched about having the theatre to themselves, they decided to get a refund half way through.

HUSTLE AND FLOW - finally a movie that makes dungeon and dragons look like a materpiece. I walked out of this movie, which is rare usually I can handle a bad movie but this movie was stagnant and stupid. I'm cooking' with things to say about it but I'll have to wait till tomorrow and make a proper post about the suckage.

THIS IS A PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT, AVOID THIS MOVIE.

Did anyone else have the words "fight club" suddenly appear in dazzling neon right in front of their eyes and have it stay there through the entire movie? I mean, right down to the raggedy insomniac leading character.

I wanted to see Batman Begins but i let the girlfriend chose, bad freaking idea.

Hustle and Flow - It sounds like a gas staion for hookers.

The storyline as follows, our main chracter is a thug, gangster, pimp whatever you want to call him. He has three women who live with him who earn him money in different ways. He also sells shitty weed on the side. One day he meets an old friend from highschool in a convience store and then he shows him what he does for a living which is sound recording, he takes him and his hoe to a church. The man starts to break down and cry and acts like he's having a mid-life crisis, he seeks his old highschool friend for help.

Now this storyline is kind of out there but this is where the movie got worse, instead of him changing his life or setting any goals he decides to rap about what he does as if that will make things better. The next hour which may seem like three or four is all about recording his lyrics about "bitches and hoes" while waiting to meet a famous rapper he once knew who might be able to help him get his record spun thus giving this cat a chance at making money.

Not only is this bad enough to walk out of make sure you throw something at the screen to spare the other people from their pain.

I hate these people (yes, you too jerome) who think that one good movie with a certain theme has absolute rights to that particular theme; like, every time there is an insomniac or split personality in a movie it's Fight club, every movie with sci-fi-kung-fu-fighting is Matrix and every movie that has thugs and strange characters finding themselves in even stranger situations is Pulp fiction.
Maybe I'm wrong tho, and maybe I missed seeing Reznik go onto organizing underground boxing clubs with the idea of creating his own little terrorist organisation to change the world...

It's a different movie totally, The machinist, a manifestation of guilt and paranoid existence created by ones own conscience. The split-personality character has little to do with main plot, rather opposite from Fight club (you could take out whole character of Ivan in The machinist and the movie would still be able to hold up, whereas you couldn't do that with the Fight club).
Also, and it's just a thought, the whole movie Machinist is a dream, he died in the crash and ended up in purgatory where he's to face his demons, and if he can defeat himself he'll go to heaven. But, I guess it'd be too Jacob''s ladder-ish

There is another movie that ripped off Fight club, it's Me, myself and Irene. Give me a break.

Hopefully no one actually gives you a reason to hate them, you'd be bound to go off the deep-end with them.

Broken Flowers - Really good plot, I was un-easy about how I felt but once it got into it I let loose and enjoyed it. I heard people bitching infront of me after the movie about how the ending ruined the movie, fuck you life's not perfect and not every ending ends the way you want. I'd rent this though maybe not something you'd enjoy to be a highlight of your night. It was creative and I give this movie props for not trying to be like every other waste of trash in the theatres, people pay to see the same shit, they don't seem to really care aslong as they get the jokes it's two hours long and it ends on a good note.

Deuce Bigalow European Giggalow - I liked the first one, it was mediocre, but this rides of the coat-tails of a decent movie and offers nothing really knew. Hah maybe I'd find some of the jokes funny If i was stoned or had the mind-set of a twelve year old.

I'll have a good review of Valiant and Fourty Year Old Virgin to come soon.

I saw The Aristocrats last weekend. It's a good film that a lot of people here would probably like. Just one caveat though: if you expect it to be just 100 comedians all telling their versions of the joke, all variations on a theme, then you'll be disappointed. They spend just as much time talking about the joke as they do telling it, which I think is more interesting than just hearing the same joke again and again. We don't often see what it's like in the world of comedians, usually only what they give us on stage or screen. Beyond the joke itself, I found this insight into their world, their society, to be the most important part of the film.

Each telling of the joke is an attempt at creating the filthiest, most creative version possible, but maybe that definition of "filthy" is a relative term. I didn't find many of the things discussed filthy, heck, you'd easily find worse on the TW forums. The fim points out, and I agree with them, that younger generations won't find it as obscene as older generations would.

My favourite versions of the joke shown in the film were the South Park version, Sarah Silverman's, Emo Philips', Andy Richter's, and Billy the Mime's. Seeing Billy mime out the joke brings out a different reaction than the others; just think about what's going through the heads of the people watching him who don't know the joke. There was also one, but I can't remember who told it, that featured a father and his sons each balanced with their anuses on each other's penis in an unusual pyramid structure. And then they started spinning.

No, man. Machinist starts out at the crest of the Climax (Bale dumps a body; Norton has a gun in his mouth). Both men have insomnia (and look raggedy as fuck). Both's split personalities are manifested as other people and introduced in a sort of parallel manner. Both find out said personalities are some sort of schizo thing when the women call them by the imaginary schizo-friend's name. There's even a random obsession with cleanliness (FC: soap, TM: Bale scrubbing himself)

It's not the general content, it's mainly movie-style-filming type thing.
