Everytime I think of Hiroshima, I get goose pimples.

I'd love to visit there sometime, to see how the rebuilt and stuff.

But, it's depressing how one single human made machine can bring about so much death and misery.

The city is completely rebuilt and looks more or less like any other city in Japan aside from Kyoto which was completely spared the bombing of WWII.

Some pictures I took of Hiroshima when I was there 2 months ago:

I took this standing on the only surviving bridge, while looking at the infamous a-bomb dome



Peace Boulavard (south east of a-bomb dome, looking from the island where the peace museum is):



The museum is interesting. Interestingly enough, while it talks about WW2, it only mentions the fact that Hiroshima was a military garrison, that many of it's sons died in military units fighting the war, and that the civilians had terrible conditions during the war, without actually mentioning WHY the war was fought or how it started. And then it mentioned how strange it was for America to drop the bomb on Hiroshima when Japan had obviously already been utterly defeated. The only reasons the museum could think of were:

1) America spent $2 billion on the bomb, so why not use it?
2) Show the Soviets who's boss

I think it's a huge mistake to use such a great place to set history right to so blatently distort history and directly blame everything on America. They do have a point about how people shouldn't use nuclear weapons though cause they do suck.
