Help me pick a Fantasy Football team

• Xabi Alonso is a lot better than Steven Gerrard and £400k cheaper
• I'm gambling on Richard Wright to replace Nigel Martyn at some point this season, I think he's too good to have been on the bench for this long and is only £3.6m. I'm also an Ipswich fan.
• Tommy Miller scored 15 goals from midfield for Ipswich last year and is an expert penalty taker. Given that Sunderland's strikers at not that stable I'd opt for Tommy if you're short on cash
• Arsene Wenger currently prefers Phillipe Senderos for Sol Campbell so don't be fooled by the name
• Mido is shitting goals
• The proverbial pies have been shared around Middlesborough's strike force so don't pick any of them (except for Job that is, but he's shit)
• Given the lack of competition and therefore pressure for starting places up front at City, is this the year Robbie Fowler regains his midas touch?
• Chelsea win football matches. When you're buying expensive players, make them Chelsea. However most of Chelsea's goals come from midfield as they only play one-up, something to consider
• I'd avoid the Newcastle midfield, with so much competition for places it could all change each week
• I'm tipping Spurs to do well this year

Alonso is brilliant, and Rafa's best signing, but you can't really pick him over Gerrard for a fantasy team can you? He may be as good as Gerrard (high appraisal, though I like the argument) but there's no chance he'll be anywhere near him in fantasy value. Alonso could realistically make it through the entire season without scoring a single goal, and while that's fine for Liverpool since that's not the job he's asked to do, that doesn't really help out a fantasy manager. Good for serveal assists probably, but I don't think he'll do much more on paper than Roy Keane or Claude Makelele. But yeah, agreed on the rest -- Senderos is definitely the future in centerback for Arsenal -- though I think the Newcastle midfield is a bit more stable than you do. Should be a good season.

Plus I was under the impression that Alonso also got the goals, but I could be mistaken

im guessing you're right when you say defoe and mido will start, against pompey.. but i think kanoute will start a lot too, since he have a lot of qualitys mido doesn't have.
and i think both keane and kanoute will stay. keane will be sold in january, if he doesn't sign a new contract.
