I hate to say this, and I don't want you to take it the wrong way. That kind of thing, is generally the hallmark sign of a snob. Don't know if it's you or not, but it's a little odd to be talking about requirements to participate in any manner of free and open discussion.

Actually, I would think the exact same thing of you all... You can not seem to be wrong in this discussion, even when it's a general statement on why not to have this discussion, you still want to fight about it... What the fuck is wrong with you people? You seem like you've been repressed throughout life and now that you have a say in something you will not shut up...

All TK is saying is that none of us are educated in this argument... Meaning, have you read the bible? Ok... Have you done any research into any field of science that contradicts the bible? Ok... Have you sat down, without saying a single word in the matter, and listened to someone from the opposite side of the arguement with an open mind? Ok... Didn't think so... Biblical ideas rarely can be tested. I don't see how someone with a scientific mind could end up believing/knowing this stuff. You will rarely be able to explain anything with religious ideas and who you are as a christian, that's why people are going at you. No one is inferior with what they believe, I think you're into this stuff far to deep and it's a superiority thing now.


All references are there for you to disprove and examine. The idea that I would be able to explain astrophyics or that I could even explain it to another person is absurd. At the same time I do not know or believe in this stuff, it is something for you to look into, it's something for you repost on once you've looked into it. That said you can't take scientific ideas and try to disprove them with religious text. If you want to know what I think on these subject that's fine but do it in a way so that once the thread is done (and this one is on life support) I can respect you, your thoughts and respect your religion.

I am not trying to convince anyone of anything. I am challenging ideas, contributing to this topic. Religious ideas can not be tested, that's why you believe in them, scientific ideas can be tested and proven, that's why they're fact. What we consider to be fact or true will always change. You are a living contrdiction Stylez. I don't think anyone is trying or was trying to push their ideas as being right but you. I am just trying to talk here with people about religion. No one has anything but their own opinions, their own beliefs on this topic and no none of them will ever be right, if you didn't get that then just shut up.

It's not being a snob if I don't think I'm qualified either. Escalate implied that I thought I was the only one capable of discussing this, but if you look at the actual posts in this thread, I've barely said anything since the second page or so.

You told everyone to stop discussing the topic because "most of us" are incapable. Then you pointed out that there were large flaws in our arguments and even larger flaws in our counterarguments. Whether you include yourself in the class of "most of us" or not, it still comes off as an assertion of superiority. You are the TWL Forum confucius, who knows that "real knowledge is to know the extent of one's ignorance", unlike us who blatantly lack your wisdom and just don't know when to shut up.

I used to be a Christian. I've read the Bible, and even took classes on it. Two of my good friends are ministers. And most of my regular friends are religious (not all the same "flavor" though).

I'm the way I am today because I did sit down and "listen to one side of an argument with an open mind."

I know what a lot of Christians and other religious people are thinking when presented with certain scientific ideas. What I've learned is a lot of Christians have no real clue to what some of these scientific ideas mean, and it's not always their fault. They are told completely wrong "truths" and tend to argue with incorrect facts, thinking that what they were told is actually true. One of my aforementioned minister friends had to take a "creation science class." Even HE said that class was bullshit, but a lot of people take the class and just believe what they're told. Sometimes my friend would come to me with questions, then go to his professor and "challenge" him, who would simply say, "well, that's wrong, end of discussion."

I don't know everything, not by far, but as a former Christian who has turned away from religion and embraced science, I know quite a bit about the subject.

If anyone has anything to say, right, wrong, or in between, I wholeheartedly suggest they post. I personally would like to see this thread grow to 10x its current size.

This isn't a league debating match. We're a bunch of people, using the Internets to sit down and bullshit with one another. There isn't any such thing as incapable or being qualified to post.

I know it seems stupid, but if you have something, anything to say, and it's on topic, even if it's just to tell me or anyone else that we're going to hell, step up and say it.

I've always felt that creation science was a farce, as I see it as basically trying to find/fabricate evidence to fit into their hypothesis: not creating a hypothesis to fit the evidence.
Believing that god created the world is fine. But trying to pass it off as science?

I think that its all ok unless it just gets into a flame/spam war. Please, no-one quote whole pages of articles, even if it proves your point.

The thing is though, even if it did prove a point, people (like Stylez) would say taht it has nothing to base itself on and thus is flawed.

How can consider yourself to be debating when you make up facts and for some unknown reason will not allow the word luck to be used? I was trying to point that out to you and you jump to the conclusion that everything i said is invalid becuase i used the word luck?

Luck plays a huge part in science , you have to try to reduce the possibility that your research is down to luck/coincidence and they use complex statistics to help in this. I wasn't even using the word in that context, or indeed i wasn't even referring to science but trying to point out to you that your points of how unlikely it is for our planet to be created doesn't really matter.

I don't know why you reacted like you did, and now try and take the moral high ground, but the fact is your the one who called me a retard and dismissed my point for using the word luck ...
