I'd watch the sun for a bit to determine where North was roughly, then work out where the shore is and swim there. If there's a strong current I'd sink to the bottom and walk there. I guess the best course of action would be to stay still and not to exert too much energy. If it's night and I don't know where the shore is it'd be better to stay still and hope for rescue. If it was night, I didn't know where the shore was, there was a strong current and I was in shark infested waters I'd take photos of my death, throw the camera into a shark along with a note along the lines of 'make this into a movie; give my family the royalties.'
Dammit, Angell beat me to it with tthe sun thing.

Wait for night, then observe the stars. Panic when I don't recognize teh southern cross, and then wait till the sun rises. Paddle like mad.

Whip out my cell phone, pick it apart and while using parts from it and some finely whittled coconuts I would make a motor strong enough to move the entire island. I would then take a couple of trees, fashion them into an anamatronic thingy of some kind so it could steer the boat-island while I take some sand, finely shiv it into the phone shell so it can run Prodigy on a wifi line(more coconuts) and download Continuum so I can continue playing on my way home. ^-^

.Halo.
Y'know... if you were any stupider, I swear death by laughter would be a real medical occurance.

After nine days I let the horse run free
'Cause the desert had turned to sea
There were plants and birds and rocks and things
there was sand and hills and rings
The ocean is a desert with it's life underground
And a perfect disguise above
Under the cities lies a heart made of ground
But the humans will give no love
Then the world exploded,
the end.People who are rather more than six feet tall and nearly as broad across the shoulders often have uneventful journeys. People jump out at them from behind rocks then say things like, "Oh. Sorry. I thought you were someone else."
