My cognitive psychology professor at Cornell actually was into all the same stuff Tone is. He spent his 2nd to last lecture of the year (the last one was a summary of the year) talking about the singularity. If you want an endless source of links for similar type stuff check out his lecture notes. You can actually read through them relatively easily as they are slides with additional annotations (click the thought bubble) explaining what the lecture is about. And at the end of each lecture are links to supplementary material, if you find it interesting.

I'm going to have to elaborate on this:

One particularly stupid post was made by some dork who included the internet nerd's signature piece- some gif animation thingy that contained: the words STFU, capslockon! (OOH THAT'S FUNNY), the letters "teh", and little doodles made from +, -, =, @ etc. The funniest part is that some huge nerd took the time to create that and put it on the internet, for the sole purpose of some other dork finding it, and posting it on a message board where other dorks would ACTUALLY FIND IT FUNNY.

AND YOU GUYS THINK T0NE IS DUMB?!

It's pretty ironic because now I feel like a dork making a big overdone post on an internet message board about how stupid I think a little animation thing is. Sigh, why couldn't I have gotten addicted to heroin or masterbation or something (WAIT, I THINK THAT ALREADY HAPPENED TO SOMEONE ON THIS BOARD! Hahahahaha)

I've skimmed maybe three of his posts since the whole cloaker fiasco, and my opinion is that he'll never change, so I will continue to bomb his threads with meaningless pictures because I have no text for him.

I predict that at the initial stages of mainstream nano-enhancing, anew medical condition will spring into being: Molecular fatigue, where due to imperfections in the technology, body cells are breaking down under the stress, causing symptomas similar to radiation poisoning, eventually ending in death if the defective nanobots are not stopped.
