That reminds me,

On animal planet sometime back, they used to have a show what if or what animals will be like in the future.

The squid, should humans become extinct, would become the next animal to "dominate", although not in the same manner that man "dominates." They would become more diverse and much more intelligent though.

Or like lizards. Anyway, they probably don't feel as much pain because its not a permanent body part. Not that I'd know, as I haven't ever studied a live giant squid.

i thought i giant squid would be bigger than 8m

There are ones about 12m, diff sort of squid. I think.
8M is still pretty big. About the length of a bus. Not Godzilla big...
Anyway, the point is, this 8m squid was one of the smaller variety. Larger variety is supposedly less agressive, and just sits and waits for prey. So, you can't leave bait for it, you have to go squid hunting.
