  • Only Three years left

A year after achieving a stunning re-election (I would have said shocking), which also saw the Republicans increase their majorities on Capitol Hill, George Bush, the campaign tonic has become a toxin.

His approval ratings are consistently below 40%, 15 points lower than Bill Clinton's score at the height of the Monica Lewinsky scandal. A majority of Americans now believe that the country has lost its direction and that the president has lost his grip on that most precious Washington commodity: leadership. <--bet he can still leady a to a bottle of booze and a line of coke if strategically placed....kind of like his wherabouts during his time in the reserves!

I do not blame the Red States....I blame friggin Ohio, since they had the casting vote in this mess....may Ohio be doomed a life similar to Camden, NJ...one big dump!

And may Lewis "Scooter" Libby be found guilty with all his buddies and do the time they deserve...nice to see all the Halliburton crap finally coming to the top. Bastards! the lot of them!!!
May your shit come to life and kiss you on the face.

This administration is for total secrecy and total execuitive power yet they allow information leaks like plame's undercover status and god knows what else. It was for political pay back, there's no other reason to do it and I find it funny seeing all these guys on the news acting like the Administration isn't in a bad state or that the indictment didn't hurt Bush or didn't open the door to the possilibilty of further indictements or uncovering a conspiracy. If you're indicted for lying ect.. about a case where you and one or more people attempt to release information in an attempt to get pay back because someone revealed your lousy justifacation for war then that is called a CONSPIRACY. They have neither the political power from the people nor the credibility to be keep running without transparency (while disenfranchising half the population) to the entire American public and to the world. Bush's presidency is basicly over, he'll find some way to piss off the 49.9 or so precent that didn't vote for him maybe 10 more times before he leaves.

I don't blame republicans, moderates or the democrats or even the entire system. Clearly alien elements have corrupted the republican party and now controls the Administration, you'll see how far up it has reached through the Scooter inditment and possibility Rove or Dick Chaney. There's also a story on the back burner, Tom DeLay, the former house majority leader was indicted for illegally funding his party in the 2004 election.

Note: By alien, I do not mean [tonish]exterterestials[/tonish] but something foreign, completely out of the main stream, a-moral and cloaked to the public.

I'm not gonna say "i told you so" but "i told you so..." anyway since you americans got bush inside the white house now you will have to take him for the whole 4 years... serves you ^-^ .
Well now that i think about it maybe you guys could learn something with the french... if they do such strongh riots because of the way the minister of the interior had adressed to the teenegers revolted with their situation, imagine if they didn't liked their president!!

Jokes aside i think everyone could see it coming, Jorge W. Bush has no skills has a president whatsoever, the only time he adresses his nation is when something has happened regarding iraq, that fact has made is reputation directly connected to the way the campaign in iraq is going... he has become known has the president that waged the war against iraq... and since the whole campaign is taking so much time and has seen so many setbacks people are becoming more concerned about their countrie's situation wich has been overlooked in favour of a war that only serves the interests of a select few...

anyway i apologise for my engrish i think i should spend some time working on it...

Well how about pissing off more people from outside the US.

PANAMA CITY (AFP) - US President George W. Bush said that the Panama Canal must be modernized and that every country must have "equal access" to the strategic waterway that links the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans.

The US president, who visited the canal locks, emphasized that "things have changed" since the canal opened in 1914 and stressed that "it's in the nation's interest that this canal be modernized."

Bush, wrapping up a five-day, three-country Latin America visit, said it was critical "that it is to be used by everybody, that the canal is international, that there ought to be, you know, equal access."
Well considering it does not belong to the U.S., here he goes dictating on what he wants and not what is in the interest of anyone else. F'n hypocrite he is. Maybe the U.S will invade and attempt to take over Panama again...a prediction of what may come before he leaves or should I say, ruins the Presidency!

Both Bush and Torrijos said they still disagreed on an issue critical to Panama: Efforts to rehabilitate former US military bases littered with unexploded ordnance.

On December 31, 1999, after long negotiations, the United States returned the Canal Zone to Panama.

The US military abandoned 14 bases when it left Panama and some 15,000 hectares (37,066 acres) of land needs to be cleaned, at an estimated cost of 600 million dollars, according to government and private studies.
I work across the street from the largest Land Locked Naval/Joint Force reserv base in the US. It also marked as a toxic waste dump...one can only imagine the waste and toxic debree the U.S. left behind in Panama...and at who's cost to clean it? Bush obviously does not care nor want to clean up our mess.

It boils down to this. He has no Foreign Policy, No Domestic Policy and no cares about anyone living on this planet.

I may be a U.S Citizen, but I didn't vote for him, he's not my president!

Would be nice to see him tried for war crimes with his cabinet!

              Start a revolution... ^-^
Since i think america is a democratic country "im still waiting for proof on that though" the president is elected by a majority of votes "depite we all know that 5 years ago it didn't happened that way" so since he won the elections he his your president 404 i feel sorry for you and all americans...
I think Bush should start caring about US's problems instead of solelly caring about other countries problems... i still don't know what he is doing in the White House since he seems to be on vacations 24/7... or in the war room... maybe he should have followed the military carrer... but last time i heard his military carrer aint went pretty well.
George Bush thinks that other countries resources should be at the disposal of everyone. Maybe it's time for countries like Somalia and Uganda to start asking for their share on the Oil in Texas and Alaska since it's free for all, or maybe all other countries should start asking for Bush to comply with the Kyoto protocol... maybe then he can talk to other countries about sharing and contributing to a better world...

1: arrogant shit like "I told you so" only pisses off everyone, leave it out of this.

2: What the muslim kids are doing to their country is not democratic or even civilized. I don't know the social atmosphere there but everyone is responsible for their own situation and life.

I think a lot of it might have to do with restrictions on religion in schools for muslims, which is an attempt to preserve french culture. Now this is a single govn. decision, if a minority feels that this is an attack on their culture, not so much preservation of another culture then they can appeal to the UN, their local govn. and to their state govn. and personally protest it. The democratic process is powerful but slow, sometimes burning down buildings and cars gets more media attention but will only lead to storm troopers being placed in the streets. Nothing, no matter what anyone says or does it is not an excuse to riot and kill people.

                    YOU are wrongh!
First it was supposed to be a somewhat sarcastic comment...
Anyway it looks like you are not aware of the way emigrants are treated in France... if you think that burning some cars to show their revolt is a bad thing think about it for a second...
They are treated like if they weren't persons by 90 % of the French... police do daily inspections to the subburbs and if they see a muslim person walking down the street they ask for its id imediatly and in a provocative tone most of the times... sometimes when the same person passes there the day after day they do the same thing... once again in a provocative tone. They all live in 20 floor appartments that barelly have enough conditions... similar to the american's "project" the social neighborhood where they literally dump people and families living there because they dont care about them... they make their neighborhoods separated, especially for them, of course that this kind of things dont promote the integration of an emigrant communitty but only ostracises it. They have a huge unemployment rate and youths biggest aspiration to get a job is going to mac donalds because they didn't had the propper education nor the means to get one... if the french receive them in their country they are responsible for them otherwise they should not allow them in if they can't provide them enough conditions... the emigrants are the working force for the most "basic" jobs... the french use them as cheap working force and then they give them a meager of what they should really receive, they do the jobs that the "French" don't want to... as if that wasn't enough they restrain the use of the islamic veil in schools... it has nothing to do with traditions, every human being should be able to perform their religious rites, if you were catholic would you like to be in a country that forbid your prayers... it's exacly the same thing, it's a religious rite as anything else. That among LOTS of other things is the reason why there are riots in France...
What applyes to the muslim community also applies to a lot other emigrant comunities in france... these riots are not made only by muslims but by the emigrant comunity in france as a whole
I do not condone those acts in France far from it, but i seriously think that the emigrant situation in Europe should be taken more seriously and more measures should be taken to provide emigrants better conditions and to promote their integration in the comunity, and in order to avoid more situations like this one in the future.

anyway i think the "Jokes aside" part of my post should have let this clear in the first place so i dont see why you got all agravated...

PS: It's like some people say, i dont agree with them but i understand them...

Anyone care to actually go look for some context before posting?

I am not a fan of this admin, but I have been around long enough to know that the last three admins, Bush Sr., Clinton and Reagan, all had similarly low approval ratings at the same exact juncture in their tenures. Bush Sr. and Reagan had virtually the same approval rating and yet both rebounded very well before they left office.
In fact, if anyone really wants to understand the context, Clinton was battling an impeachment at this point and had admitted lying to his wife, his family, and a jury. But we want to latch on to the current vice president’s chief of staff, after a months and months of investigation and millions of our dollars spent, and talk up what Democrats themselves call a ‘sparrow’s egg’?

If we want no context, let’s just go watch the 30 second sound bites from the 3 major news services. Doesn’t it bother people that they are being used by the stupid media? I don’t buy into their crap either to the right or the left. It takes about several hours a day to gather enough biased information to form a non-biased opinion. Simply regurgitating the biased crap from the media makes us sound like Tone or Spinsanity. And I know the people who have posted so far in this thread are a lot brighter than that.

                        Edit: Just for the record...
Current Bush 'low' approval rating 35 percent
                        Bill Clinton: 37 percent
                        George H. W. Bush: 29 percent
                        Ronald Reagan: 35 percent
                        Jimmy Carter: 28 percent
                        Gerald Ford: 37 percent
                        Richard Nixon: 24 percent
                        Lyndon Johnson: 35 percent

I think we both lack the knowledge of the social atmosphere there so let's not asume things. The french are responsible to provide care and safety for their people, that's a given in most democratic and civilized countires. People are responsible mostly for how their lives play out. My point is I don't know if they're treated equally or fairly but if they wish to be part of that socieity then they have the rights they can exericise to atten their goals and become a fully intergrated part of that society while retaining their culture.

Anything else is anarchy. When you learned about going against social "norms" or bringing about a revolution, in a democratic society that is within politics and does not ammount to angry kids blowing shit up on the street for any reason.

It's nice that you can understand their frustration, france isn't the only part of the world that has to deal with the influx of Muslim/Afracan immigrants but giving these people anything in the ways of understanding or sympathy will only lead to bad things. When their methods boil down to terrorism and violence their cause is corrupt and their message has far less to do with equality and more with revenge and superiority.

Public schools don't allow praying, Muslims in school in Ontario are given the space and time but it is not something that is backed or made public or could use any school resources. This goes for any religion or faith thing. Seperation of church and state...
