    because whales taste good
    Throughout time, there’s been
    crimes, throughout our history
But not as great, as the one of late, affecting you and me
Once a nation proud and free, and now we’re weeping sorrow’s tears
Tragedy’s approaching, it’s worse than all your fears

    Come on my countrymen
Come on and take a stand
Don’t let ‘em take away your land

    the Wenger bus is coming
and all the kids are running
    from London to Manchester
    cos he's a child molester

No shit it's a cover for commercial whaling, good. Countries should not be forced to completly throw away their cultural identity and be wholly dependant on other nations for food because westerners who don't eat whale think they're cute. Yes, some species of whale were/are endangered, but I doubt Iceland or Japan is going to hunt them to extinction as that would ruin their food supply.

It's very easy for a an international committe to regulate and ban something they have no use for at the expense of those who do. I'm sure a lot of people find beef and chicken production to be savage too, but that won't really make the news since you and I eat and depend on that.

The Kappamaki, a whaling research ship, was currently researching the question: How many whales can you catch in one week?

-- (Terry Pratchett & Neil Gaiman, Good Omens)
People who are rather more than six feet tall and nearly as broad across the shoulders often have uneventful journeys. People jump out at them from behind rocks then say things like, "Oh. Sorry. I thought you were someone else."

Whales do not belong to Japan, they don't feed the whales, they don't protect them. They just kill the whales. They have no right to go to places that do not belong to them to kill creatures that do not belong to them.

When I was in Iceland this summer I did try out some of their whale meat, it’s delicious. Although, stay away from the puffin bird! As some guy there described the taste… “It tastes like dirt!”

How about stay in Japan's own territory instead of going in front of other countries' door steps?

You can kill all the whales in your water, quit stealing them from ours. GTFO.

Funny, I wonder why they don't go to the arctic and shoot the whales. It would be fun to see what Russian or Norwayan government would react to that.

I suggest that next time any fishing boat (that is not ours) comes any where closer to 200km near Australian shores we should just shoot them.

Unlike Antartica, Australia is occupied and they can choose to shoot whoever they want.

Whales and fish are migratory, how can you say one country 'owns' them.
