I think it's fair to say the term disgusting is subjective.... especially when used by a 16 year old American female. I'd say whats disgusting is how many girls under the age of 16 have had sex with guys who have at least 20 peircings and wear "Fuck You" t-shirts.... but I'm just a white male aged 25-40, so no one cares what I think

The point of my post was completely missed, but I guess that's my fault. I wanted to comment on the fact that you used the term disgusting in reference to the idea of eating whale, when there are 50 million much more disgusting things that exist in the world. I realized that your take on this subject is probably the same as most teenagers (male or female, Canadian or American) and I found your thought amusing if not surprising. I wasn't trying to make any statements about the promiscuity of teenage American girls, just that the term disgusting can be really fing subjective :grin:

You're right, very differnt. The pollution, extreme land usage, and genetic modifcation of farm stock are signifigantly more destructive than whaling. The sea, not the small percentage of farmable land will be the future food source for populations that easily overload the supply capabilities of land based food stocks.

Ok yes alot of the processes used to farm cows are bad for the environment.

But
1) this was never about cows
2) Whaling doesn't and cannot support the same number of people as cows
3) We aren't going to FARM cows to extinction (acutaly i guess this is plausible since we are injecting them with antibiotics and creating resistant bacteria that is harder to stop, but i guess a virulent form would be needed anyway and so that is nature)
4) your a cow
5) i'm going to eat you
6) no the diffrence between arable land and the sea is it is alot easier to look after and manage crops and livestock than sustain the population off wild shoals of fish. We are already altering the temperature of the sea and therefore the ecosystem, there is already a decline in one of the major links in the sea food chain, plankton.

you should also note that plankton accounts for roughly 50% off all CO2 uptake, so it's not only important to the food chain, but to slow down gloabal warming. but it seems global warming is killing it as it needs cold waters.

Anyway i don't see the sea as this great resource of unlimitless bounty that we can just dip into too to feed an exponentially increasing population ...

Wow, didn't know we killed that many whales. But most of it get exported, and what's left goes to fine restaurants.

It tastes great btw, like fish, but its tender as beef, or you can eat it at a sushi place, but it's sliced thin, doesn't taste as good as whale beef though.

Whale is like a fish, and we eat regular fish all the time so why complain?
The only difference is that they reproduce slower, and mysteriously swim up on beaches to die.

It shouldn't be hard to farm whales in the future.

Whale is in lipstick, and I think I read that some cosmetics had human ingredient in it, nasty shit.
