I personally don't really give a shit, but i'm just wondering what everyone else thinks about it.

50 Birds Die Of Bird Flu In The UK Report

The Government has been criticised for "confusion" surrounding its handling of the bird flu outbreak at a UK quarantine centre. More than 50 birds died at the Essex facility where H5N1 was found, a report published by Defra says. A consignment of Taiwanese mesia birds was the most likely source of the virus, which was first thought may have come from a South American parrot.

you may not give a shit about 50 birds, but that is hardly what the panic is about.. if the strand evolves to a form that can be contracted by humans, im sure a shit you will give then.

I remember something about epidemics or pandemics and whatnot from my Microbiology course in university last year. Something about once the virus or whatever breaks the animal/human barrier, thats when it goes from 50 birds to 100,000 humans. It is a serious problem, and it is being looked into thoroughly. I just hope that when they decided to tell us that it is a problem, they tell us when it's just starting, so that we can at least have some preparations, but that's just me.

We were going to have flu shots at my work, but complications arose and they ended up not having nearly enough shots for all the employees. What did they do? Cancel the flu shots and tell us that we'll be reimbursed if we go get them and bring the reciept to our manager. I don't know if I should get one- do you think that if the bird flu evolves, the current flu shot that we have will really do anything to stop it?
My father in law was telling me over Thanksgiving about this amazing bartender at some bar he frequented who could shake a martini and fill it to the rim with no leftovers and he thought it was the coolest thing he'd ever seen. I then proceeded to his home bar and made four martinis in one shaker with unfamiliar glassware and a non standard shaker and did the same thing. From that moment forward I knew he had no compunction about my cock ever being in his daughter's mouth.

Don't really know. But like what Dealt said, it is a serious problem if it does evolve to the human strain, but currently this is second time i've heard of a report of bird flu in the UK since 3 weeks back. Seems to me that they aren't telling us enough bout the case and what to do if it does evolve, i'm watching the program tonight called, 'WHAT TO DO IF BIRD FLU COMES TO ENGLAND' on Channel 4. <_<

Anyone who has an increased risk of coming into contact with anyone who has contracted the virus has been immunised. So basically doctors and pharmacists etc..

Shit, I don't want to get the flu shot and then get the damn bird flu :turned:

In order for the virus to infect humans it must mutate first. The vaccines that ppl are taking now are for the certain strain of the virus. If the virus mutates the vaccine will most likely have little to no effect (you can compare this to yearly regular flu which mutates so much that the vaccine taken year before does nothing for the new strain of virus)
Looks to me like the perfect for the nature to control it's badboy offspring: concentrate huge amounts of virus in birds, spread it all over the world and BAM! mutate it to infect humans which have little to no immunological defences against it because they never were exposed to it! Brilliant

Forget about vaccines, those that are ment to survive will survive (much like with the plague), everyone else dies.

                          That's gonna be so cool!

You're right! It wouldn't be free if it didn't have some expensive mind-altering drug that turns you into mindless zombies that purchase things that you don't need.
