Wow Epi, I didn't know that much about the specifics if we did go to war, good to know.
You can get riled up and want to "smack me" all you want ZZ, but I don't see anyone with some sort of power as a threat. Communist-run countries that have nukes and over a million ground troops? Threat not to America, but capitalist countries all over the world. Don't get me wrong, I know we do business with them, and after reading what Epi, JT, Paul and one or two others said, I have to agree and say that they changed my mind in thinking that a war with China seemed possible.
It seems very "European" to think that a topic posted by an American involving another country revolves around some type of insecurity we have. Just kidding- that sounds really silly, doesn't it? Not everything has some underlying goal or is some way to boost the image of America.
That's the crazy thing about nukes, no one wants to use them because we all know how it will turn out- a shame they remain symbols of power (i.e. America won't get rid of theirs, Korea is trying to scramble more for themselves, etc) . Even with all the diplomacy and red-tape and neither side wanting to start a war, do you think one would break out if a high delegate/ the country's president was hurt or killed in the visiting country? Say China sends their leader over to Japan (highly doubtful), and something happens to him- do you think China would feel obligated to retaliate? Would it depend on the situation, or what?
