This "unborn geniuses" comments are pretty bizarre when you consider that the same argument could be used to the effect that everyone should have as many children as possible, since if you only have 1 child instead of 2, then the 2nd child could have been an unborn genius, so obviously you should reproduce as much as possible in order to maximize the chances of getting an unborn genius.
I could as easily say that the world has problems with overpopulation, so having an abortion contributes to population control.

I think one of the great things about these forums is that we've witnessed puberty in action with Lucon going from 'annoying and not funny super-happy teeny bopper' to 'annoying and not funny angst-ridden hormonal narcissist' - I'm getting the copyrights on the content of these forums so I can sell them to anthropologists
I'll admit that I'm annoying, and not funny, and hormonal, and a narcissist, but angst-ridden? I don't know where you're getting that.
...you are mistaking abortion with contraceptive methods and birth control... oh and what is that story about sadistic people?!?!?
contraceptives do just that, they prevent conception...abortion occurs after conception, with a living, thriving fetus within a mother. believe it or not, that fetus needs nutrients to grow, just like any other animal does. and after being on SS long enough, and putting up with people at college, you get to know some sadistic people, and that there's been plenty more throughout human history.

it's not so much 'overpopulation' as 'insufficient sustainability.' sure, there're a lot of people in the world, but we have the resources to ensure everyone's survival, so far as nutrition, clothing, and shelter. and if that's your position, why start with abortion? just go out there and kill millions of people in the name of a Utopian government.

...don't think you really understood the meaning of the phrase "it's the mother's choice".
then, by all means, correct me; don't just assume i'm ignorant to the phrase and go on to something else.

Oh by the way i know it might be a gruesome comparison but the grass in wich you step all days has DNA and living cells, it's not the fact that you are a bunch of cells stick together with some specific sequence of DNA that makes you human,...
forgive me for having an education that says that is the fact. a human being is defined by its DNA code, just as any other living thing is. true, plants have DNA and living cells, but never in their life cycle do they have neurons or anything to perceive pain/pleasure.

...being human is living, it's being part of society, it's gathering experience, it's feeling, it's interacting with equals, it's to love and to hate, none of these things you will find in a 2 or 3 month fetus.
i believe that, philosophically, defines a person. not every human has the ability to do everything that list entails, but that doesn't deny their right to live, does it?
i don't know...i'm probably just talking to the wall.
there's more to life than meets the eye, but don't let that get you down.
