Is the Island based on the book The Experiment?
They have pretty much the same storylines.
The Island:
Clones kept in a secret facility in the desert, for use when someone gets a bummed organ, which they can remove and transplant easily.
One clone escapes with his friend (female) and eventually finds who he is cloned from, and her clone, etc.

the Experiment:
Clones kept in a secret facility on an Island, where 15 old scientists perform complete organ transplants. (I forget the word, basically every organ in the chest gets replaced all at once)

i went to see it in the cinema when it came out becuase i think scarlett johansson is very hot and someone told me it was good. It later turned out they told me it was only good becuase she was in it and i had forgotten that.

It wasn't a good movie but she was hot

anyways yeah lost in translation actualy is a good movie and she is in it. Ewan Mc Greagor or what ever you call him isn't which is good as he now annoys me. He was good in Trainspotting but Robert Carlyle was better. Bill Murray is in it and he is great, he doesn't annoy me.

apparentally Scarlett was supposed to go topless in the "sex scene" in The Island, but the director/producer scrubbed it because he wanted the rating to be lower or something... I dunno I'm half awake when I read some of thes articles, so don't take what I say seriously.

though in all fairness the director is a terrible one from what i saw. Think my friends said he did Pearl Harbour as well? Never went to see it becuase it was ment to been so sucky and from what i saw of the island it most likely was

Pearl Harbour was good, it wasn't very accurate, but it was a good movie.

The Island was good, it had somet hings that were a tad to much for me, but it was good.

the science was terrible and not explained, alot of scenes where way over the top and by the end i wanted all them to die.

I think the concept was decent but they focused on the wrong aspects including some of the really bad science that wasn't needed (a good example was that awfull "car" chase scene where the guy had some genetic memory of how to race wtf???)

if they had left out dodgy genetic memory just so they could fill 1/2 the movie with car crashes and explosions and focused in on the point of "what is it that makes us unique and does intelliegence = rights" then you could have empathised with the clones alot more.


this film reminds me in many ways to the 1970's film Logans Run whiched i watched and thought was great when i was younger but i think holds up to scrutiny much better than the Island.
