Well actually Ratty we do use the metric system in Britain.... And have done for many years now. The only difference is that when people "speak" of height over here, they usually say it in feet and inches. It's always recorded metrically though.

Imperial measurements have just stuck in people's heads because everyone roughly knows exactly what height they are in between 5"5' and 6"7' which is the average height range of people in the UK. It's just the way people refer to it, because we rarely have to write down or record our height's we only ever learn our height from our parents, and if our parents talk about height using imperial measurements then we're going to learn it in that manner.

im aware of that, but, i mean, on a literal level, if you had the intelligence of a fourth grader, and actually thought about what you were saying, you would know it was false. that means either you arent as smart as a fourth grader, you didnt think at all about what you were saying, or you knew it was false and just love bashing my country so much that you felt like saying it because it sounds good to you. if you heard a rumor of something remotely feasible, fine, but claiming that the us has tapped the phones of everyone in the country and has a computer hooked up to the phone lines that monitors words is insanely ridiculous.

But I don't think it's that ridiculous, all phonecalls have to go through a "station" and we all know that computers can do virtually anything nowdays, certainly when it comes to goverment stuff because they usually have an edge on what is already available to us. I mean, as a phonecall is going through a station, it wouldn't be such a huge task to make it run through a computer at the same time, and if you have carefully picked words in the computer, it's not that much work either because you only have to listen to the calls the computer picks out.

So.. no I don't think it's that ridiculous, I think IT WOULD BE Doable if one really wanted.

Do you realize how much of a drain on resources that would be? Thousands of calls are made across America each second, in multiple languages, dialects and voice tones. Trying to sift through all of those factors to find words like "bomb" or " hail allah" for even one mildly-populated state would take hundreds of computers and man-effort. Besides, I doubt terrorists are really going to talk on the phone and say " yea boss the bomb is on the truck np, I can't wait to see all this american scum burn like the eyes of allah" , even in their own language. They're too careful for that ( o shits I'm sounding like Tone).

if you just thought about that from a logistics standpoint, that makes no sense whatsoever. first of all, if your phone wasnt tapped to begin with, how would they know what you say? second of all, how on earth could they monitor every phone call going on in the entire country? im not a fan of the current government regime here in the us, but its ridiculous to have all all your europeans attack us based on rumors. nevermind trying to pretend your shit doesnt stink either, just because nobody on the global scale gives a fuck what you do enough to expose or criticize it.
