I think you have to be just a little insane either way to comment on politics and not end up sounding monotonic, a la Al Gore. Look, he's on television--his job is to maintain or increase viewership, and right now people only watch things on TV that shock them. It's true. If these guys didn't take extreme stances, there wouldn't be anybody watching their shows.

Do I think the Daily Show is liberal? Yes. Do I think Jon Stewart is liberal? Yes. But somewhere along the line, the word "liberal" has gotten a bad rap. Liberal ideologies aren't necessarily bad, just as conservative ideologies aren't necessarily bad. Not to get all dictionary.com on that ass, but liberal (in it's literal sense) means "not limited to or by established, traditional, orthodox, or authoritarian attitudes, views, or dogmas; free from bigotry." Who doesn't want to be a little free from bigotry every now and then? Being liberal just means you want a change--why's that a problem?
