Where does dust come from?

So I have been noticing how dusty my bedroom/homeoffice is lately. I wondered where it was coming from, since I don't open the window very often, and don't use a fan to blow outside air into the room I usually hang out in.

Much to my disgust, it turns out dust is mostly comprised of dead skin cells. I thought, no way. That can't be right. So I walk into the spare room where I almost never go into (and 99% of the time the door is closed), and there is practically zero dust on any of the furniture or anything.

So it turns out, all the dust all over my TV, by my computer, on my desk...etc. It's basically dead me all over the place. How fucking gross.

Once we had to watch a movie about all that stuff. It showed what your sheets look like - completely saturated with dead skin cells. If that wasn't gross enough, it showed all the little critters that are there with the sole purpose of eating them.

You mention going into a room that usually nobody uses and it has little to no dust. Reason being is not dead skin cells alone...it is many things. Simply put, dust can be brought in on shoes and clothing, or other items you bring into the house.

But your not far off, when you say dead skin, as dust is also composed of animal & human dander, flaking skin cells, mold spores, food and plant fibers & residue, insect parts, pollens, and other minute particles.

Ever see the magnified pic's of dust mites in our pillows....kind of gross!

You sweat a lot in your sleep. After a week your matress will contain a litre of sweat, but you can't really change the matress every week. I should imagine that after a litre of sweat its pretty much saturated though so you don't have to worry about any more collecting. Its going to stink after a while though

I was gonna say dead skin cells but the first poster answered his own question. My girlfriends biology teacher once said that you never go bed alone, because there are hundreds or even thousands of little thingies living in your bed.
