at about 3 months i was allowed to start running, so i started doing that pretty often, at 4 months i was doing "snap turns" i.e. running triangles and figures on the basketball courts etc, and at 5 months i was "good to go".

granted, its been just over 3 years ago, and my leg muscles still arent at the same level as on my right leg, and im going to the gym etc.
This sounds about right. 5-6 months to "good to go" meaning ready to go play some b-ball/v-ball with actual jumping and going at it a bit. But you're still only at 50% at this point and pushing for 80-90% by 1 year.

For me I run at closer to 110% effort on the court and physically being at 80-90% sucks major donkeys. At this point, I'm 30 and pretty much giving up on any thoughts of playing like I did in college. I know when you're 30 you're not supposed to play like you did in college with or without surgery, but well, I don't know what else to do with myself.

Dang, that sucks. DTF be careful on you way back. Don't nurse your surgery leg or limp off of it. Use it as much as possible. Get strong because you're that much more at risk for injuring your other knee or other leg injuries in general.

Sorry for the negativity at this point already- you don't need to be hearing all of this now. The truth is, aside from sports your life will be mostly normal after only 2-4 weeks. And if you really love sports you can work hard and get back to doing a lot of sports after a couple of months.

One word of advice: go with a younger doctor (or at least a doctor that knows the latest techniques and has the latest equipment). ACL surgery has improved a lot even in the past 5 years. My first tear was done by an older doctor with lots of experience but the amount of scarring, etc. screwed up my knee. My 2nd tear was done by a very good guy 3 years out of residency/fellowship and the incisions were tiny in comparison, the bleeding and scarring was minimal and the recovery was 2x as fast.

It is National Masturbation Month. I'm happy. I'm sad I missed the official Masturbate-a-thon.

I luckily live very close to a Connecticut's Top 10 orhtopedic specialist -- but who knows who ranked him...

It's a team, the specialist and the suregon. THe specialist is really nice and reminds me of Troy McLure from the Simpsons. My dad went to them for when he dislocated his shoulder and hes at 99% right now after 1.5 years. He can't throw a baseball as hard as before, but that was expected.

oh, and I got a job, and I love my fucking job. It's easy, and the people there rock. Oh, and I'm getting paid 8.05 an hour.

And it was my mom's b-day, and prom. And wednesday, the last day of May, I graduate.
