It's crazy to me how some people are so VERY mis-/under-/ill-informed. I know it's all en vogue to hate on the US right now, but can you take off the fucking blinders when you do it? There are lots of valid points to be made, and a lot of things need to change, but wildly dropping "BUSH = HITLER!!1!" or "US CITIZENS EAT SOMALI BABIEZS!" just makes you sound like a stupid asshole.

So what's your point? 129 000 and 70 000 people died directly and twice as many died from the after effects. Even today people are still dying from the effects of the bombs. They also dropped the bomb right over the center of Hiroshima city. C'mon dude they didn't need the nuclear bombs to destroy military targets. They had already destroyed 59 out of 66 of Japans largest cities when they dropped the nuclear bombs over Hiroshima and Nagasaki. They did it to frighten Japan and show the world there muscles and it worked very effectively.

As far as people asking why nuclear bombs were dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki--would it have been better if we had dropped them on Tokyo? Surely, if we were just looking for a large body count to flex our nuclear nuts, Tokyo would have been a better choice, right? Someone tell me why the fuck we're arguing this.

Yeah the Hiroshima debate is a very tired one. I won't even say my personal beliefs because I already have this argument at least once a month with somebody but when people spout misinformation like "the USA bombed innocent Japanese armed only with pokeballs" then it becomes irritating.

Well he might not control the media, but a lot of news stations sure seem to be VERY biased in favor of Bush. Fox news is so right wing it isn't funny anymore. It's scary to think some people are watching Fox news and taking it as the truth. Even CNN is pretty biased. I used to watch CNN for 1-2 hours a night and eventually stopped because I got so angry at how they would spin almost every story about the government to be in the best possible light.
