Capital, first 2 replys to this thread were actually pretty nicely said and were very good answers why some things shouldnt happen and why things happen. But when he went on with the bullshit, dont expect people to be nice.

who cares how long i play or how often i play? what counts is that unlike you i try to see the whole game. and yes 24/7 events make that game be boring for ppl who do not like base or elim, sorry that those who want to play in pubs and diffrent hosted stuff like they did before all that automation was introduced at the cost of variety of events exist and dont fit into your picture of how players should be, but its not just you. you might want to ask people who play in pubs and still know how it once was about it. you will see about 90% of them agree with me on that. its just staffers like you who ignore them completely.
and for your "try doing something first" : actually i introduce lots of ppl the game, help on almost every question i see asked in the arena i am in and try to involve new players into teaming and show them the variety of the game and to have some respect for their fellow trenchers. can you maybe understand that i am dissapointed by our staff when a mod comes in and just pisses them off?

You have no idea who I am.
I see no reason why basing or dueling would be effecting publics. Tradionally people move on from publics to Basing, Dueling or Javing. This has not always been true but many communities have developed from our settings and sub arenas into leagues. The continued success of these sub-communties means the survival of this game. Pure publics and poor changes to the entire public system has extremely damaged the game in my opinion, that is where we have a rift between the "elitist" and the new players and all the WR type squads are gone now.
Automation means we don't have to have staffers killing themselves trying to run #mythrandir or trying to have fun in private arena duels. People wanted these bots to be up and they'll cry bloody murder if they're ever turned off or crash. Who's to say how players should be? I don't claim to always be objective but there is no 'ONE' way players should be playing in this zone. We have ?Go base, Wbduel, elim, belim, tourny, spidduel, TWD, TWL all because either 1: players wanted it thus developed it or 2: They again cried bloody murder until staffers made it.
I don't ignore anyone and I don't get your point. I still consider myself a pubber if that matters and I've played a disgusting amount of years here. What publics and this game is about has changed little if any.
What I meant by 'try doing something first' is if you feel that there's a problem in this zone then work on it. If you're going to complain about...uh.... just about everything then make a TWPS or think of solutions and add it to your complaint and if you're going to bring a discussion forth like this be open to criticism and be more clear. Valid criticism is wanted but if you have no ideas on how to fix these "problems" then it's just a huge circle jerk with everyone agreeing about a problem and trying to find blame rather then working to fix said "problem".Last edited by Kolar; 07-01-2006, 12:23 AM.

i have a pretty good idea of who you are and how much u put into the game. im not saying you are useless or whatever, and i dont want to just complain but to somehow open the eyes of those who are supposed to lead the game in some way. its things i cannot change atm which are up to the staff. first of all showing respect even if ppl are new and annoying and whatever. i know some of them make you guys freak out and be pissed as hell. i have never seen you being one of those who made me start this thread though. but its little things that make pubbers feel unheard, examples like that complaining about taking away javs radar, ppl emailed/pmed/imed and posted to staff for it. most of the staff i was talking to about it even agreed. but nothing happened. months later there was this voting thread, the vote was for radar, nothing happened, months later again the topic came up and for some reason javs finally got their radar back. i could give more examples but ppl already get tired of reading all that. im not saying you guys do a bad job and i dont want to have like a million ppl complaining and cursing here. i just wanted the guys that are affected by the bad impression players get from weak moments some staffers have to think about maybe introducing some rules for the staff about what to say and what not to say as long as they run around with their tags or show that they are staff. its common knowledge that ppl see the bad sides before the good ones. and most dont even try to see all the background work. also i would love to see discussions here or in the game lead to something more than promises.

I think you have a lot to learn about this zone, TW Staff and what we're meant to do.Last edited by Kolar; 07-01-2006, 01:27 AM.

first of all, none of the staffers are staff for no reason, so i guess they are not worthless. then even when some things sometimes go wrong it is no reason at all to take away staff status as long as its not extreme cases.
i already said before some who do not behave like they should sometimes throw a bad light on those who do. on that part im generalizing, because the whole staff is affected by it and it throws a bad light on the whole game management.
i never said anyone is worthless because of disagreeing, i think everyone who comes here already made up their mind about staff and a thread like that wont change anything on it, no matter in which way.
this thread was not about just one incident but many many experiences that became worse after i saw such good progress a few months before.
yes there are many things i can change and i already try to change, this is one of them.
i agree with those slow changes the last years and quick snap decisions. but making promises again and again and not keeping them or fulfilling them a half year later is a bad idea to gain trust.
i see work on the game, on making it interesting for people, on keeping players and getting new ones. not only for tw but for the whole game. all i want is ppl who care to join it with ideas and in this case, manners and building up a staff ppl can rely on and have a good impression of.
actually you seem to get my intention wrong, i do not try to let staff or anyone specific look bad, which is one reason why i dont want to list every incident with staff members that usually do good work. i tried to say what things i do not like to see happening here that can very easily be changed and would let all those who keep doing great work look much better. if that is seen as whining around and makes ppl feel attacked by me i cant help it.

Kolar you shouldn't be trying to represent staff, you're doing a terrible job at it.
I've been in arguments with you before and don't think you should be in them.
bkgmjo is right there are a lot of staff members who show no respect to players, which is wrong. I don't think staff is being picked the right way by Pure_Luck.Last edited by Sumpson; 07-01-2006, 06:45 AM.Only the loyal count.

Originally posted by bkgmjoactually this thread wasnt primary about a help command but anyways, what i mean is that questions are answered yah, but ppl get not told what other features the game has, i found ppl that played for 2 weeks and didnt know there was more than one pub. or be honest, how many ppl use the ?message option? and macros for example, nobody shows ppl what a macro is when they start this game. lil things like that, like the ?find or freqchanges that ppl have to find out on their own or have to wonder about first before they get told. when i saw this game first i didnt have inet yet, and i was dam glad i could play the old tutorial before i started to play the game online. one big thing for example is...who tells those newbies ever tw is about basing and not spawning? thats definatly not any mod and mostly not even any player. its something thats missing since the continuum client. and those help ticker messages are no big help. imagine you were new to the game, would u have the time to read all that while you fly around trying to find out how to play this game?
I quite like "would u have the time to read all that while you fly around trying to find out how to play this game?". So sounds like it isn't staff's fault, we need a bot to PM players zone help, but we can't expect new players to read it, so this bot must PM messages directly into new player's BRAINS?People who are rather more than six feet tall and nearly as broad across the shoulders often have uneventful journeys. People jump out at them from behind rocks then say things like, "Oh. Sorry. I thought you were someone else."

@Kyace
what i ment was not a bot randomly pming newbies, what i thought of was giving the bot a help menu for the mostly asked questions by new ppl and even veterans with not so common commands. i know alot of ppl already help them but i can also understand when players and staff dont have the time/patience to explain everything. with such a bot ppl could just tell them to pm the bot and look up things.
could give longer explanations than in the F1 helpfile (for how to setup wave macros or why other weasels can fire that fast shots for example, often asked questions). its just that from own experience with teaching really alot of newbies i can tell that most of them do not pay attention to chat(includes help ticker) before they played for a month or so. but they do pay attention right after they asked something. this isnt exactly staffs fault or anything but since the tutorial is missing it would be a replacement of it and could also help those who just forgot how to certain things. it would be a learning help system staff could update easily, would take away alot of the staffs work and give them time to play and care about other problems.
edit: this could be added to every bot for arenspecific questions too though
