It's because Ned went on the Colbert report.

Honestly though, you shouldn't complain about independents in the Senate race without complaining about 3rd party's altogether. In the United State's 3rd party candidates do nothing (election wise) but steal votes from the candidate the are more closely related to. For example, in the '04 election Republicans flat out gave Nader money for his campaign because the only people who vote Green party are angry Democrats. It's this sort of shit that destroys American politics and the 2 party system, but I still think Ned will win.

In this case it'll work towards Lamont's favor, not the republican ticket's.... so because the republicans weren't going to win anyway, and the people of Ct. found Lamont a better candidate for the democratic ticket than Lieberman (the 3rd party now), it really doesn't determine this election.

Sen. Joe Lieberman makes the headlines again on his self-image built campaign for keeping his seat as Senator as well as professing to Connecticut and the Nation that he himself knows what is best for this nation. Joe goes on to use the fear, terror and shock tactics as his blueprint for re-election.

It has started already, as Joe seized on the terror plot in Britain to criticize Lamont’s opposition to the war in Iraq.

WATERBURY, Connecticut (AP) — Sen. Joe Lieberman set out on his go-it-alone re-election campaign Thursday and seized on the terror arrests in Britain to argue that his Democratic opponent, Ned Lamont, does not fully understand the danger facing the nation.
And obviously to all of us, Lieberman knows everything and how to handle and end terrorism. Joe is the only one capable of putting an end to this world wide epedemic of terrorism…I think NOT.

Here we go again with a politician twisting the facts and again misrepresenting the realities and uncovered truths, especially when it comes to Iraq. Does Lieberman think that the American public and his Connecticut constituents of whom he supposedly represents have forgotten that there where no WMD’s in Iraq. That Bin Laden was not in Iraq, that the entire Iraq invasion was more or less a miscalculated and poorly planned means of invoking American idealism of what we push upon other countries in an evangelical means called Democracy? Not to mention that the entire Iraq situation was mishandled and has been constantly used as a prop or catalyst for politicians personal gains, be it power or wealth on an unwarranted scale. The world would have been better off in my opinion if we had not invaded Iraq, held Saadam closer to the U.S. as an ally of which he once was & worked with him, rather than create the paramount scale of U.S. hatred that has become the result of the actions of the countries elected officials in the past years.

                Lieberman goes on to say:

“I’m worried that too many people, both in politics and out, don’t appreciate the seriousness of the threat to American security and the evil of the enemy that faces us — more evil or as evil as Nazism and probably more dangerous than the Soviet communists we fought during the long Cold War,” Lieberman said.

“If we just pick up like Ned Lamont wants us to do, get out by a date certain, it will be taken as a tremendous victory by the same people who wanted to blow up these planes in this plot hatched in England. It will strengthen them and they will strike again.”

Come on Joe, get with the program and stop with the bullshit that never stops spewing from your mouth & accept that the world has changed and become a rather volatile and hostile planet. This has become a worldwide epidemic since the U.S invaded Iraq. We all know that terrorism is spiraling out of control, but this should not be the only topic of your campaign. I am guessing that the representation of Connecticut and the issues with your state are not what will be important. I may be mistaken, but didn’t the democratically elected Iraqi government issue a timetable for us to leave recently? Did our own government make note that the U.S. forces would leave if asked by the Iraqi government? Was Lieberman even coherent at any time during his reign as Senator for Connecticut? How can this guy be so out of touch and yet know what is best for the country let alone his state of Connecticut?

I do not think that anyone in the States are questioning or doubting the seriousness of the threat that terrorism has become on a global scale and especially how it has an impact on this nation. From what Lieberman is saying, paints a picture that he alone will be the only one to solve the problems we face as a nation. His ego has ballooned to such extremes, that I am wondering if anyone has actually told him yet that he looks like an egotistical maniac & idiot.

“We are at war with a brutal enemy,” Lieberman said while visiting a pizza parlor. “How the heck can we be in a battle in which we are fighting as Democrats and Republicans against each other when these terrorists certainly don’t distinguish based on party affiliation? They want to kill any and all of us.”
This appears to me that Lieberman is the one doing the fighting within the party by running as an independent after he lost his primary.

                Lamont was quoted:

In a statement, Lamont said that U.S. national security and the nation’s ability to fight terrorism have suffered because of the Iraq war.

“Our force readiness to face another threat elsewhere in the world has been diminished because of our preoccupation with Iraq. Both anger at America around the world and the number of terrorists seeking to do us harm have increased,” Lamont said. “We are not stronger and safer because of Iraq; just the opposite is unfortunately true.”

Lamont said the U.S. needs to focus on catching Osama bin Laden and other terrorist leaders and building “a credible, effective foreign policy with our allies.”
I have the same opinion with Lamont, as do many within the States from your average voter to both Republican and Democrat representatives. The entire “Stay the Course” catchphrase is such a load of rubbish. It reminds me of the shapes game, when you have to put the square peg in the square hole and the round shape in the round hole. Sadly I see this current Government trying to put the round shape in the square hole, continuously repeating “Stay the course”…it has to fit eventually! Narrow minded government at its finest and Lieberman is the poster child for the latest look of the idiot politician.

I am not from Connecticut, yet this entire spectacle of events and comments that have come from Lieberman and his constituents are very shallow and do not have the merits or reinforcement for them to stand behind. It just seems so blatantly obvious that Lieberman is out of touch and it aggravates me to no end when I read and hear the spew that emanates from him on his ideas and false representations of what is for the good of this nation, let alone the fear of what will happen if Joe is not re-elected.
May your shit come to life and kiss you on the face.

How again is this Lieberman fellow a democrat?

We need less fear and rhetoric on Iraq and terrorism. I swear if I had to listen to Harper or some MP use "Stay the course" every 5 minutes... :death:.

"Lamont the U.S. needs to focus on catching Osama bin Laden and other terrorist leaders and building “a credible, effective foreign policy with our allies.

I wish I could vote for this guy. Sadly though my MP has turned into one of Harper's lackies on the middle east issue plus he voted against the gay marriage bill. These liberals are not so liberal nowadays.

In America, the third party system is either used to:

a.) Draw votes from one party
b.) Keep Independants from swaying elections.

Take Ross Perot. He was helped to enter the 1992 (and I think '96?) elections by Democrats to help control the independant vote and to provide Bill with enough leg room.

That would make a good commercial. If you came up with that one yourself, maybe MoveOn or someone else would want to use it. The beauty is in it's simplicity:

Fade in on a little boy trying repeatedly, and unsuccessfully to put the square peg into the round hole. Then when he tries to move the peg to the square hole, his slightly homely looking, and subtly dumb looking young mom tells him to stay the course. The kid looks a litle confused, but goes back to trying to unsuccessfully put the peg into the wrong hole The camera slowly pans from that to focus on the solution---the square hole.

Camera continues to tighten in until the image is just soft blurred colors, and then a voice-over narration announces the facts---with text of the facts printed onscreen:

"Over $400 billion spent...over 2,500 US soldiers dead...with no end in sight. George W Bush and Joe Lieberman tell us we should stay the course. That's no solution."

Paid for by Citizens Who Think Joe Lieberman Is A Stupid Cunt.

Why hello stranger, what have you been up to?
My father in law was telling me over Thanksgiving about this amazing bartender at some bar he frequented who could shake a martini and fill it to the rim with no leftovers and he thought it was the coolest thing he'd ever seen. I then proceeded to his home bar and made four martinis in one shaker with unfamiliar glassware and a non standard shaker and did the same thing. From that moment forward I knew he had no compunction about my cock ever being in his daughter's mouth.

My formerly lazy, unemployed ass found a job, if you can believe that.

It was nice being able to watch as much TV as I wanted, and play TW for 4-5 hours a day, and go to bed at 5am and sleep for 10 hours...

...but actually having enough money to pay my bills, get new clothes, and buy a porn DVD here and there is a little more rewarding.

In any event, I have adjusted to my new schedule to where I am actually able to pay attention to the world around me again. So...hello again. How you been?
