I only read a few of the posts in this thread, but I think the main issue is having the rules apply equally to everyone.

I'm not going to take either side, but: yes he said the "N" word and should get whatever consequence is deserved, but why shouldn't the same apply to nit3.

I'm gonna tell you a story...

There was this guy, Bob. He was in 2nd grade, did 2nd grader things in a 2nd grader world. One day Bob tripped over a lunchbox and exclaimed, "Damn!" after he hit the ground and scraped his knee. The teacher on duty heard this profanity from the child and put him on a 15 minute 'time out' during lunchtime. After the 'time out', Bob was quite angered that he was punished for just saying a word. It never hurt anyone, he thought. Hell, it made his pain feel better by saying such. Begrudingly, he took his punishment and then went on his way with a bitter taste in his mouth.

The next day, Bob is on the playyard playing hopscotch with his friend Steve. Steve is a bit of a clutz and stumbled over and he hit the ground with a thud. As he hit the ground, he exclaimed, "Damn!" as well. Bob looked around and saw the teacher attending to another student's issue. Bob was sure that the profanity from his friend's mouth reached his teacher's ear, but she didn't do a thing about it. Now, instead of having this bitter taste in his mouth for being put on 'time out' for swearing; he now has a bitter taste in his mouth, because his friend swore. This is the same thing he was punished for, so he ran to the teacher, tears in his eyes, and went, "Teacher, Teacher, why oh why didn't you punish Steve? He said, 'Damn' aloud! I heard him!". The Teacher sighed and then put Bob on another time out. As Bob sat in the corner, missing out on a second lunch period, he asked the teacher, "Why did I have to suffer the punishment, and not him?". And the teacher replied, "Because you are a hypocrite and a tattletale. I can't be everywhere at once, I can't see everything. Some people are made an example of for the others to follow, that's just the way things work in the grown up world. A police officer will go down the road and pull over one guy for going 90 mph, when there were 5 other cars going of varying, illegal speeds. When this is done he is set as an example, not because of malice, but because of a need for order. Were the people who were set free any less wrong? No, and if they don't see the error of their ways after seeing the consequences, they are foolish and will surely be punished later on. Trust me, everyone will have a day where they will be punished for their wrongdoings" Then, with a sigh of disappointment, Bob cried out, "But, Teacher, this isn't fair!". To which the Teacher replied, "Life isn't fair, Bob. Shit happens.". And, again, Bob is left with a bitter taste in his mouth. Not only is he in time out while his friend is out playing with his friends, but his teacher swore infront of him and she wasn't on a time out either.

Moral of the Story: Nobody likes a tattle-tale. If something isn't caught the first time, you won't be proclaimed as some internet hero for pointing it on on a webforum. He'll get his in due time, because someone like him will say it again and it'll be shot down. Cause, in the real world, shit happens, sometimes you just gotta deal with it and act mature about it if you wish to get your point across. And, just a heads up, making a thread called "staff are complete idiots" isn't a good start.
