I like this part; I wonder if any holy book says anything about guns, and cars, and airplanes...

Back to cloning, a cloned person is exact same genetic copy of the original (that has been said, yes), and that means that cloned person will have same predispositions for physical development (color of eyes, height, genetic illness and such) as the original. But that does not mean that cloned person would become just like the original.
Now take cloning Micheal Jordan for example...the cloned person would have tendency to become tall, black guy with possibility to develop ability to dunk in various ways. Now, depending on that persons life experiences, growing up and morals and principles that he inherits from his parents (people he grows up with) - for all we know, he might become a president of chess-club with burning passion for violine playing and disliking of all sports.
Cloning Michael Jordan or any other famous person, and having their clone do what the original did, is just new face of utter slavery.

Cloning identical twin that can replace you ? Why not ? Just take the DNA information that is stored in chromosomes during the mitosis of first cell after insemination, and there you go.
Mitosis: process of cell divison when nucleus divides (consisting of 4 stages) resulting in 2 nuclei, which both contain complete copy of parental chromosomes. That's how baby develops, from one cell, and take it's DNA from begining, and you can have as many clones of one person as you wish that will be same age.

And speaking from proffesional side, I'll bet any of you 50$ that there already are cloned persons "in traffic"....especially knowing US goverment and all the things they do that are hidden to public.

crvban is on my exact same train of thought about the clones. You can't force some one to do anyhting, (thats kind of the point of freedom here in USA). SO, even if you are Jordan's clone, what if oyu dont like basketball and dont give a shit about money? will you be killed becuase you are a failed super clone? (the clone would be useless in worth at this time right? you spend the money ot make another super b-baller not some turd who doesn't like bball)

second- the chances of the person developing exactly the same are slim to none. even with the same cells the person will gorw differently, they will only have tendecies to something. My parents are niether left handed nor is any of my grandparents, but me and my little sis is. By your clone theory i should be right handed.

cloning thus far has been done with disasterous results as of late. Most cloned animals have died from diseases that affect the animals usaully in later age. It seems that the cloning makes them more prone to develop defects as well. Cloning has a long way to go before it could even be considered safe.

i am more in favor of using a person's own cells to grow organs. This has been researched and done successfully with cartilage. clones are an uneccassary development that organ farming could solve.

also, why would i want to watch michel jordan the clone? i dont wanna see some fake side show freak. i wanna see the real thing. I gurantee you, if i knew i was watching a clone play i would lose a lot of interest. Sure its great to own a $10 rolex but wouldnt we all wish we could have a $24000 rolex?

I think the only way to find out is to put human clone process on trial for a lengthy period of time, gain more knowledge about it before we finally decide whether it should be made legal.
It is hard to tell whether a pair of shoes suit you before you try it on, isn't it?

(I am not fully qualified in this area, so please correct me if I am wrong in the following discussion)

On the negative side, my personal suspicion is that the clone process would produce human that could be worse than the ones produced by incest biological parents, because practically both the 'mother' and the 'father' of the cloned person has the exact gene structure.

However, I don't think the ultimate goal of human cloning should be 'making a duplicate of someone', instead it should be aimed at making the study of gene evolutions and cerain branches of medicine possible - including growth of organs to help dying patients.

From a very strong science background, I do NOT think any investigation in the matter of science should be discouraged, what should be discouraged is the abuse of knowledge gained by the study.

Clone people, kill them, feed them to the homeless. Lets sort out the people we already have on the earth before making more.

                  Speaker of Trench:
I think you don't really know what you're talking about, or the guy who wrote that.

                  As CrvenBan said:

Our genes don't matter as much as our experiences when forming us to the persons we become. It's just plain silly to think otherwise. Would Hitler have become an "evil" man and start a world war if he had grown up in a different time and family? The answer is IMHO, no he wouldn't have. That is if you believe we're born "neutral" and innocent.

About the cloning of sportsmen. Just some weeks ago there were an article (of a scientific research) in the swedish paper DN stating that to become a real professional in a sport you'd need to train several 10k hours. It also said your genes don't matter very much (in that concern), it was all about how much you'd trained and the quality of it in your life.

                    ok last post today.

Yea, the kewl thing about cloning is that it will prove that we are a direct product of our environment, and not our genes. The bad thing is that it's pretty hard to get 100% accuracy in a manipulated situation. I do agree with Troll King though on the 'soul' thing. How could a clone have spirit? Is it really just in the brain? That is another thing cloning might prove..... or say that it does...

Yes, I do think it should be legal. All of you are just assuming that the person, once cloned will be your age exactly. What kind of idiotic logic is that? Cloning is fine, sure people will die, and many others disfigured, but eventually they will get it right. I really don't see any ethical or moral problems with this. People die all of the time, why can't a few more be unborn or "still born?" Plus the way things are looking as of now, I am going to need a new set of lungs in a couple of years. Someone come extract my dna, preferably if your name beings with Denise and ends with Richards.

Now that I think about it, having 3 billion Denise Richards would be SO much cooler than only having 1. Let's get rid of the rest of the female population and replace them all with Denise Richards look a likes. I think this would also end the whole "oppression of women in third world countries" thing too. Who would want to oppress Denise Richards? Those Indian guys would just want to bang her out hardcore style. Those south east asians wouldn't want her to do work, because then she wouldn't want to fuck them, and all they want is to get their dick wet, so they would be like hey do whatever you want. The islamic nations where women are highly oppressed is only because those women are viciously ugly. With 3 billion Denise Richards, instead of their ugly arabic women <excluding this one lebonese chick I know> everyone would be happier. And for all you nay sayers who say "well if every girl looked like Denise Richards then she just wouldn't be hot anymore," you too are wrong. Beauty doesn't have anything to do with a standard, apparently it is all mathematical. So boo-yah, bleeotches.

You'd be replaced only by something that's a lot younger, and younger looking than yourself - in essence fooling no one.
Who knows what future technology can bring.

10 years ago I bet people thought printing organs through inkjets were impossible but they've done it (one layer mind)

Plus...I forget their name now but there is something on genes that cant be cloned, and when new one is formed, it takes one f these things from the original gene, when these things run out your cells break down. But realians have already cloned a few so I guess that problem is either fixed or they don't care.

You wouldn't know which one was yours, there would be a lot of fighting within the female race, many many men wouldn't get a partner because they'd all be after the same type of bloke and finally after few generations most would be different so by the time everyone would get them, not everyone would have the same.
