I was pretty anti-iPod until I got one as a gift, and honestly it does what I want it to without a lot of hassle.

My girlfriend's dies whenever she loads In The Aeroplane Over the Sea onto it. This was not a sacrifice I am willing to make.

There are the "covers" which are clear stickers which provide decent scratch protection without adding size/weight or changing the appearance too much.

Don't bother with extended warrantees, just buy at costco, cash back, no questions ever.

I heard the same....it's a wonder they don't go out of business.
