There have been attempts to measure the degree of scientific consensus on the issue of anthropogenic warming. In the journal Science, an essay by UCSD Professor of History Naomi Oreskes considered the abstracts 928 scientific articles in the ISI citation database identified with the keywords "global climate change". Dr. Oreskes concluded: Of these 928 articles 75% were either explicitly or implicitly accepting of the consensus view while 25% covered methods or paleoclimate and did not take any stance on climate change.[18] [19]. Dr. Oreskes did not specify how many of the 928 abstracts explicitly endorsed human-induced warming effects, however.

So if you were about to inject yourself with a drug, or jump off a bridge, or eat green slime, and 3 out of 4 people who specialized in drugs, bridges, slime, or whatever told you that might just be the stupidest idea they'd ever heard... Would you do it?

I would add that it would depend on the type of English being spoken as well.

There is not just one dialect.

I personally prefer the Boston/New England accent-dialect over the Alabama/Mississippi accent-dialect.

Philly has a horrible accent-dialect, yet we did start the whole "Yo" thing back decades before it was even mainstream. We also pronounce Water as Wooder.

English is just a mess of dialects from here and there with a regions accent added to the overall outcome. It's a f'n mess

English is a mess in itself, not just dialects, we (the English) through a process of continual invasion - both being invaded and doing the invading - and then leading the charge once the trade routes were opened, adopted the best bits of everyone else's language

As far as dialects go I like Scottish and Irish the most.. though I can't follow it if you have people who are really good at it and talk really fast.

English has adopted an incredible amount of words from other languages during the years and some grammar as well. I'm studying to be able to speak RP properly. Might have a course on the different accents and dialects of English next year. Hoping to pick up some Jamaican English skills.

How's being able to talk in a comical Jamaican accent going to further your career? If you want to speak Jamaican then simply say 'beer can' and you'll sound like a Jamaican saying 'bacon'
