that's bs.. seriously. There were like what.. 5/6 cops there? Since when are they to weak to carry someone out. There was no reason to tazer him imo. If I say it correctly, he even got tazered after he was already handcuffed?

before all the lapd scandals, they woulda just beat the shit outta him and dragged him off. now that woulda been video-worthyIll-timed force will be ineffective; act with precision; timing is everything. Knowing where and when to strike is more important than strength; misapplied ability is disability. Unreasonable or undue force will defeat itself

Suzie you sound like that guy in the vid. Maybe you should of had it coming :fear: The cops were called there by the campus employees. They were there to do their job and asked the guy many times to do something. He chose not to and put the cops in a scenario where they had to remove him. New laws have been passed on tazers and it is becoming the most popular method, due to the fact that too many cops, and civilians both have been injured using brute force. Smart asses are always looking for ways to bend laws to cause controversy, screw them they deserve what they get.Indulgence

He was shouting for ppl to join him in resisting ... you need to think of the safety of the police officers too you know ...
And if he was forced to the ground and handcuffed etc ... it would have looked just as bad as if he was tasered. At least with tasering, the cops don't have to touch him.
Notice while he was tasered he was still able to shout stuff ... not like he's dead/unconscious. Resisting arrest can get you tasered and it can get you arrested.

It's always ok if the person "had it coming". He probably was a shit disturber looking for a cause but he's a human being and doesn't deserve swift justice or judgment, not from you or I or from the police. The police had the situation under control, shocking a person 6-7 times can either seriously harm them or kill them. I don't think you guys siding with the police understand that this is a real weapon, used inappropriately or excessively can harm or kill a person. There is no excuse for doing it here, maybe in an extreme situation.
There's a word for using pain to make a person compliant, torture. If nothing else you have to agree that this method the University has rubber stamped for its security force is wrong and unethical.Last edited by Kolar; 11-22-2006, 05:38 PM.

It was appropriate action ... maybe not in European countries, but certainly in the USA. He can choose to sue etc if he wishes. That's called checks and balances (sorta).

To the ppl who say they should've dragged him down and handcuffed him and dragged him out instead of tasering him ... well both look equally brutal in my opinion. If the guy is resisting, it's certainly safer for the police to taser him instead of putting THEMSELVES in harms way.

my older brother is a cop. you arent suppose to taser someone unless they pose some sort of threat/try to run from cops etc... from the video, it appears the student may have been uncooperative, but there were numerous cops that could have dragged him out and they had things well under control without the taser.
these rent a cops should be brought up on charges. IMO, they have no authority to taser someone at will especially if there is no threat and the student was not violent thats for sure.
