different sexuality question

LB's thread somehow quickly got onto the topic of whether or not homosexuality is something a person is born with. It made me think about a different topic that i'm a bit curious about:

hermaphrodites.

In western culture, i believe most of the time, this type of baby is "fixed" as soon as possible without paying much heed to the physical and psychological trauma caused by such an operation.
what i'm wondering is, if you(your wife, whatever) had a baby born a hermaphrodite, would you have the child get a sex change op or not?
do you think that your answer to this question is in some way related to your opinion on homosexuality?

isn't it the case that alot of the hermaphrodites have malformed sex organs and that kinda makes up the parents mind? or are sterile in one off them ?

i'm not big up on this topic but i thought that they were rare and to have both genders reproductive organs both functioning normally was even rarer

if i had a child born like this i'd have to judge the situation then, at the moment its hard to tell

my understanding is that most of the time the sex organs are "malformed" but still "work" more or less. i'm not sure of the definition of either of those words when you're talking about sex organs.

the other thing i've heard is that many times the surgery that is done removes or disconnects the nerves so that stimulation isn't possible, where it was before the operation.

i guess maybe there's an issue with lumping all the different possibilities together and calling them hermaphrodite?

i thought that the most common case was that all the female parts are there as well as the testes are also inside the body somewhere and not outside.. ? thats what i thought, im no expert
