First of all, that's a hilarious story. Second of all, that would NOT be a hilarious story if they had just called him asking him for money. He would have said "No, take me off your list" and never repeated the story to anyone. The point is that they claimed they were giving him an award in order to try to swindle him, that's what makes it interesting, and that's what makes it extra shitty.

I don't care if Dennis Kucinich himself called me up and told me he was honoring me with the National Badass Motherfucker of the Year award and was flying me to Barbados for a fun-filled weekend of doing bong loads with hot chicks... if the call would've ended with me having to fork over cash, the outcome would've been the same.

And I'm telling you that that's bullshit. I'm not a Democrat. I'm an independent voter, and truly vote for whomever is better suited for the job (or the lesser of two evils, as the case usually comes down to that).

I totally agree with your political philosophy and I hope more people adopt the same. People that vote straight Republican or Straight Democrat just because the candidate is Republican or Democrat are hurting more than helping by voting.

Thanks for politely pointing that out. You should know that I focus on religion rather than politics. ^-^ As well, I don't think there is anything wrong with voting straight ticket, since it saves you a lot of time at the polls. Now, if you vote straight ticket being clueless about what the candidates stand for, then that's completely different, and that is wasting your vote. It's very important to keep tabs on both the political parties and the political figures though if you straight ticket, as from time to time, you may have to make modifications to your ballot as not everyone in a certain party will satisfy your beliefs and not everyone in another certain party will disagree with your beliefs. Now I tend to vote Republican not because of issues in Iraq, or other economic issues, but I want as many anti-abortion, anti-same sex marriages, and Christians (if you can find any) in office as possible. If Clinton was a Republican and had all the basic Republican economics and such, it would be hard for me to vote for him and with a good chance I wouldn't even vote for him because his absolute disregard for morality. Its a shame that someone can claim Christianity, and even occasionally teaching sunday school in his church, yet remains almost uneffected by huge immorality in the office. Not always, but its just the tendancy that Republican candidates have a higher moral value than Democrats, but sadly as a whole, they both falling into deep sinful objectives.

He never gave an answer, and that wasn't my 'pathetic attempt at trying' to 'recover some dignity' because I have a point by it. If he would say yes to paying $500 for the trip and so forth, then he obviously wouldn't have written a forum post being angered at how foolish he was swindled out of $500 when he got something he pleasured in. Well, if you are a devoted Republican and strong Bush supporter, that person would be willing to pay $500. The point is, he didn't think seeing the president was worth the money he had to pay, therefore he used it as an excuse to attack the Republicans. If the same event occured, but instead of getting to go to a dinner and meet the president, he got to go that vacation, he would not have been offended, even though both situations are disingenuous. The reason why he was offended enough to create this post was because of his dislike for Republicans or atleast some of them. This is just simply a means of sharing his hatred.
