I read some of that article, hard to understand because im no technical computer analyst, but that DRM stuff is messed up. Especially the part about how Vista blocks all HD content and degrades it for users who have legitimate copies of movies and players.

It's just really long and seems a bit sedative. I could barely get past the introduction without wanting a snooze. But, if it interests you that's cool, I just wouldn't sit down and read that whole thing (though I have read the entire criticism of the Loose Change video, so I really have no room to speak.)

If I ever feel like buying a pci express motherboard and a graphics card that supports dx10, then I will probably get Vista.

I don't think the system requirements are as high as you suggested but the costs are pretty close in Canada anyway. I picked Home Premium up today. That basically is the version of Vista. Almost everyone would likely pick that one.

We've had it on some computers at work for a few days and it doesn't look as "3D" as some people suggest, nor does it seem to require as much horsepower as people suggest. That's just from my limited experience.

I bought it because I want to try out the 64 bit version, I ordered the disk a few minutes ago. My PC is only a year old and I don't want to allow it start looking obsolete already so I wanted Vista so I could pretend like I just bought it. I'm also going to pick up a new video card once the next gen comes out to take advantage of DirectX 10. Hopefully the 64 bit version of Vista is compatible with enough drivers and programs that I can get buy with it. It'd be awesome to be using my 64 bit dual core processor and a new DX10 vid card.

As long as it works with new stuff I can use my older PC (1.1ghz AMD) for stuff like Continuum. Thankfully I got a Wireless N router with Vista so my connection should be okay even over the network.

You guys who are complaining about incompatibility I am going to assume have an earlier release candidate or something?** It's possible some problems will be ironed out in the actual release or with patches that they are probably already half done working on.


** Unless you want to admit sleeping with Bill Gates as a reason for some SS dude to be getting the first Vista copy shipped magically to him or herself.

I'm going to wait at least untill SP2 comes out for vista. Its thes ame with all mircosoft products they suck untill SP2 :P

When I want a change I'll just install XP Pro and dual boot with Ubuntu.
Right now I'm running XP Home and I feel no need to get Vista.

I had that whole setup running under XP with a program called Flyakite which was basically meant to be windows but look sort of Maccy.


Edit: Wait wtf that's exactly the same as Flyakite.
