I was talking to a friend about this a few days ago after seeing Mary Kate and Ashley on SNL- rich kids have far too much money and far too little to do in hollywood. They don't grow up living normal lives and are constantly around high-priced, hard drugs and a party atmosphere. It fucks them up- look at 98% of the child actors of the 90's. Almost all of them got fucked up at one point or another on drugs.

I wouldn't mind a little bit more money but I think having 2 billion dollars or 120 million would do more harm than good.

The highest use of capital is to make the money do more for the betterment of life. Money itself, or having money, is NOT inherently bad or evil. People can be bad or evil. So if having money corrupts someone, it is a weakness in their character. And while it may be true that those people who get a windfall might up end screwing up, those who have money for a while can usually manage it without becoming corrupt or evil. It is also true that those who do not have money often resent those that do.

But regarding whether being ultra rich fucks you up mentally---I think what fucks you up mentally is your parents and friends. Money is only a tiny, tiny factor. Being a wealthy and powerful child can be extremely damaging if you never learn to respect the less fortunate and don't learn responsibility.
