I'm a volunteer firefighter, and let me tell ya... the pay may not be great for a full time firefighter, but the people and atmosphere at the house is absolutely wonderful. You can go and live at most houses anyway, so if you want to spend a year or two and save up some money, you could do that as well. It's a different lifestyle, but if money ain't a thang for you, then it's certainly a great one.

I have been thinking about doing one of two things after spending a few years in the business:

-Going back, getting my master's in animation and teaching 2d Animation

-Going back, getting my master's in Sociology (study of society)

Not sure yet, but I wouldn't mind either. The second is because while learning about animation, I've had to learn about how people express their emotions physically, how they interact with others, character archetypes and stuff like that- it's interesting to me. I've also thought about being a volunteer firefighter- Paul, how often do you have to stay at the house? I can't imagine I could do it while being an animator, but I don't know.

With an English Major I'll definitely be involved with anything I've ever enjoyed. I was a debater for 6 years and loved it, so I might take my degree to Law School. I love writing, so I could take it to an editor/publisher/journalist job, or combine it with my minor and become an economist. If worst comes to worst I could just become a teacher, because, well, I love teaching... but it'd have to be junior/senior high school level or I could go to school some more and become a college professor, which has the added benefit of being able to smoke pot with yr students. And have sex with them and NOT be on thesmokinggun.com

Edit: and yes, I am also going with the "if all else fails, Cop or Firefighter" option. I'd lean towards policeman, because I am going to run down every fucking person who does the shit I have almost died over. People who don't use blinkers, don't fix their brakelights, run yellow arrows... they will all be mine. Hell, I might do this in addition to my other career choices just becuase I hate them

I'll have the degree by the time im done in any case, either I will do what I originally wanted and work at the Chicago stock exchange (maybe new york now that I live on east coast?) or I will end up working for the government in some fashion, either FBI or CIA something along those lines, considering I already have a top secret clearance and all that, would be a push button hiree

i still go there now and then to hang out with friends, but when i was in school i went there at least once a month to party (only an hour from terre haute)

got craploads of friends there (im from southern indiana) and i think my brother couple be goin there come fall.

Eductaion was wasted in my youth. Don't blow your money on Univeristy if you have no idea as to what you want to do or perhaps are just wasting time to appease a parent or parents.

History is not as bad as Medical Illustration was for me, considering that nobody really hand illustrates text books anymore. Am glad I followed the Dead at that point and used the Graphics Dept. at my old school to make my silk screens & concert shirts...wasn't bad either...was an easy $1000 profit every show! But of course it was Dead tour so I blew that money on crap...am sure one can only imagine!

After all of this education, I end up working and running my families business and self taught myself AutoCAD. Lots of monies in the Architectural field, especially the Construction Managers of projects and large companies!
