Both sides want war. There's not much else to the Iran vs. West thing. The US for now is doing the right thing, having the UN involved at least till the point that Iran crosses the line. If they can hold off long enough they'll probably get enough of the EU and many some other international groups into it. The US and Britain do not want to shoulder this coming war alone economically.

Edit: However if the neoconservatives somehow dupe the American public and legislative branch again or we get a King south of the boarder then things will change quickly. The world (Russia, China and other economic adversaries to the United States) will not sanction a war on Iran or support the US right now if attacked, it will only act years down the road if Iran does develop some kind of nuclear weapon technology which is too late to risk any kind of war that doesn't involve unacceptable destruction and loss of life.

Evil and oppressive? I dunno, but I don't agree with the Bush administration's stance on Iran though. The Iranian people are pretty pro-American as a people even if their leaders are not. I think if they actually would have tried and engaged the country (aka normalized relations, dropped trade sanctions), with Iran's strong culture and social cohesion, it could have slowly changed for the better like the Asian Tigers. By refusing to engage at all with Iran, we arrive at the current standstill which does no one any good.

I was merely looking for some entertainment, and seeing these kids like kolar who maybe take a class on politics or economics in school think they know everything about the world cracks me up. I didnt claim to know anything..I just love seeing everything twist into americas fault..even this which is clearly Iran trying to pick a fight. Sometimes when I read these responses I laugh to myself a little when I read the bullshit these people buy into. I was hoping to find such a story here since I now lack the time to find it myself.

I guess part of it is just that some nerd somewhere can sit down at a computer and never leave his house, but read cnn.com or watch loose change and think that they know everything about politics and how the world works. I never have claimed to know everything about that..I just offer these forums reasonable solutions to problems. After we took down japan and germany then helped build them back up they realized we're really not such bad people after all..theres no reason the same cant be said for these people if they continue to pull this bullshit

Well, perhaps if you raised your opinion with less judgement and more openness, people would be more inclined to listen to you. Instead, you back yourself into a corner and stay there. I think everyone on these boards would love to discuss the situation in Iran, but what we don't need are those with opinions so smarmy and egotistical that they refuse to see any other way of thinking (that includes your gung-ho attitude towards invading every country in the middle east). If you chose to form your views in such a way that the intention is to discuss, rather than to offend, then I'm sure no one would have qualms about debating this topic.

But as it stands now, I feel you're incapable of doing even that. Afterall, you pretty much labeled everyone as idiots that will jump on any anti-Bush bandwagon. You can't really ask for serious responses when you yourself are unwilling to even respect the person you're talking with.

Oh, and as far as you saying that you don't know everything, judging by your past posts, and the few you've made in here, you really have a hard time creating opinions that aren't wrapped in a condescending tone and come across as matter of factly. Hell, even the response quoted above sounds overly self assured.

Don't you understand, though, that it's just as easy for people to say that Iran is instigating as it is for people to say that the US has been poking a sleeping bear with a stick, and now it's finally poking back? Just as you think some are "buying into" US aggression and conceit, you're "buying into" the "we're just making the world more like us--that's cool, right?"-hype. lol well no one here can change anyone's opinion..if you havent realized that by now i dont know wtf you've 'learned' from previous threads. I dont really feel we should invade every country and i understand repercussions of just lobbing missiles indiscriminately obviously..but for instance when israel had their soldiers kidnapped and was firing back it was always them taking it too far. I can't possibly convince anyone here that if your family member was slain in cold blood by someone you wouldnt just stop at getting 'proportionate' revenge.
