Obviously the first one: You must have a pretty dramatic experiance/ situation that you give up all hope of getting your long term goal.
In the second one you have an internal problem (restless, no satisfaction, etc), since you get what you wanted but it just seems like it isnt enough, and you cannot push your limit to a new goal.
