She went last year, and from what I can remember, she didn't have a bad time, but she wouldn't want to do it again. She taught at a private American school on a two year term, and one of her complaints was mainly because of the children, and the parents. students there were spoiled and when they didn't get the mark they wanted, they would complain over and over again. the parents, being the rich people they were (after all, they sent their kids to an American private school... in South Korea), even tried to bribe my sister would expensive gifts in a hope that it would help their child. Luckily, my sister has stronger morals then that and gave the students what they deserved (she teaches science, so if you get stuff wrong, you can't really argue with her). She did enjoy the bribes though lol. I guess your teaching experience really depends on what school you go to, and probably what area in South Korea you are in.Originally posted by Jonesy View PostThats awesome man... do you remember if she had a bad or good experience doing it?
It's good that you enjoy spicy food, cause my sister didn't like that kind of spicy (she enjoys Indian food though), and she came back very much skinnier and probably malnourished. I believe fresh fruits and vegetable are hard to come by and are quite expensive, which is why they have a lot of preserved vegetables (eg: kimchi).
I also think she might of had a hard time because she was of Chinese decent (we're from Hong Kong), and I guess when you look like you could be from Korea, they treat you like they expect you to know what's going on. I'm going to guess she had a hard time cause she barely knew the language, so people could of made it difficult for her.
Also, if you or somebody you know can get into the Army base in South Korea (probably the one Xog is talking about), you can probably get pretty cheap stuff from inside the Army base (and food I believe).

Hope you have a good time there. I know my sister complained about it, but she did have a good time visiting areas around Korea, and overall, it really is a good learning experience.duel pasta <ER>> i can lick my asshole
