Samurai versus Knight

This has been a constant argument between my persistently stoned friends and I.

Who would win in a fight, the best knight, or the best samurai?

This is of course assuming that both combatants are optimally trained and fully armored.

Pretty much everyone I know is saying that a samurai would win, but one guy is very adamant about how badly the knight would rape.

Anyways, I'm bored....DISCUSS!!!!!

one on one i'd have to say the samurai, as he's far more stealthy than a knight who would make tons of noise fully armoured. A Samurai could use his surroundings better (i.e. hide) whereas a bright shiny night probably couldn't.

Samurai is an individual fighter, horseback ridden european armor clad 'knights' work as effective mounted troops against infantry.

It's really a katana vs broadsword argument... in which a katana would win in a one on one. The Europeans trained in the art of large battles, the Samurais trained in martial arts and are more attune to microfighting.

It's about the same actually..

Samurais weren't ninjas, and they massed in numbers to fight under different banners much in the same way as knights.

Maybe I'd give the Samurai the favorite stamp, just by the fact that Samurais fence faster that the more brutish knights did. Would allow him to get in the deadly blow quicker than the knight.

However, the armor of the Knight would be heavier than the armor of the Samurai. This is perhaps the most important factor in this complex issue, the focus of this so far is more shifted towards weaponry. The Samurai would face an opponent unlike anything he had seen, so this again will probably save the Knight from a few deadly strikes.

This is a good argument... The Knight would be better armoured but his weapon is badly outmatched. A claymore is used for bashing and crushing rather than slicing, as which is the opposite of the samaurai. Though it would be cool to see.

the samurai would beat him in speed. I mean, it's tottaly Tom Cruise vs Orlando Bloom, and Tom Cruise is going to win, even if he's crazy.
