Kinda echoing what FLabby said: Antarctica is a land-mass covered in snow/ice. The Arctic is simply a region of sea with ice/snow floating on it.

Why make it hard?

USA went to Afghanistan and Iraq for Oil, Russia went to the North Pole.

Difference being that the amount we spent on the war in Iraq could never be countered by cheaper prices on oil [if and when we stabalize Iraq].
