Well, if you wanna disagree with a bunch of economists, the former leader of the American Bank, etc. then go right ahead Money. Fact is, Bush has run a terrible, disastrous economic policy.

English and French was proposed not just by Québec, but other people living in other provinces also. Most notably Ontario, New Brunswick, and in recent years since Canada became an officially bilingual nation, other provinces included. French used to be a much more widely spoken language, except that English politics prohibited all education to those people for many years. No wonder Québec fights for its language when it's only been allowed to speak and teach it since the 60s.
And signs are bilingual in most major places, same goes for English speaking provinces.

        2) wtf are you talking about?

        3) Yes, but it makes it right that all native French speakers HAVE to learn English, but not vice-versa? Why is learning a second language, being an official language of Canada, so difficult? Why try to be uncultured of the things and people around you? French in Canada is spoken across it, not just Québec, but New-Brunswick is fully bilingual, Nova-Scotia and Manitoba having small but notable populations, and Ontario having a high-concentration of native french speakers.

        4) Fiction. The government wastes money on a lot of things, and teaching a second language in schools is just a small fraction of it. For a better job in the future, maybe then you'll realize that knowing that little bit more of French will help (not just for obtaining the job, but for being able to work with people who do speak it)

From what I hear, this current situation was expected and the big top-secret plan of the conservatives is to merge the Canadian and America, and now possibly the Mexican dollar into one new shiny currency. Don't tell anyone.

Agree with money, at least on this point...
Incidentally.. I always notice you talking about money in the forums... so I'm assuming you weren't just some gangsta that likes to talk about his money and ho's .. are you like an economics major or something?

And I'm far from smart on money matters at a global scale, I'm happy that I have a savings account with money in it. But aren't their plusses and minuses to having a high value dollar AND a lower value dollar? Meaning you'll never please everyone? Investors are awfully fickle.. I can't see there ever being a simple, happy middle ground. Conjecture rarely leads to anything productive on the matter.. I mean.. if someone like Greenspan or Buffet were predicting doomsday I might listen. If Joe down the street who made a few hundred bucks on stock said something, I could care less. In the end, the market fluctuates over the stupidest things. omgz, my wb is got killed by noob burst, markets crashinG! SELL SELL SELL!

That's all, I don't know what I was even trying to say.. just ranting I guess..

Go on flaming each other again.

Under Quebec law it is illegal for signs to be printed in English. In The rest of Canada all products and most everything else is required by law to be in English and French. You're right to say that there is a significant federalist element in Quebec politics but just barely enough not to completely separate, in my opinion the fact that you have to acknowledge them as federalist just shows how bad the situation is. I have no problem with learning French but forcing kids today who can barely get by with the state of our education system seems rather stupid to me.

Not to mention the fact that we've invested billions of dollars in all of this. The Government wastes a lot of money on many things but teaching kids French is not an insignificant chunk of it. If there truly is a need or market for it then people will learn it.

                        1) Under Quebec law it is illegal for signs to be printed in English, basically we waste money putting French all over things and it's not a necessity, and it's not like they put ENGLISH ALL OVER THEIR SIGNS.

                        2) Quebec wants to have a place in the federal government, they want to be consulted and have a say in all things related to the federal government. Our system is not setup so one single province is recognized on par with the Canadian federal government.

                        3) It's a useless language, it's only useful if you're in one province thus it's not necessarily important. If you wanted to teach me a language that I can use all around the world like Spanish then I'd be fine with that but don't teach me a mocked up language that wont help me do anything unless I visit a certain place in Canada. Like I said go to France and try to speak Quebec-French, they wont understand what the fuck you're saying.

                        4) Billions of dollars isn't a small fraction, it's also quite pointless to teach kids French yet we can't even teach them Math, English, or Science. We can barely get by with the basics, why the fuck are we trying to educate our children about a culture and language that basically hates Canada and Canada pretty much hates them.

Here's the basics - Quebec wants to separate but they want to keep our currency, I'm sorry but that's not how things work, if you want to be Quebec then print Quebec on your money not Canada, the whole point is to gain their independence yet they can't even do that. If they want to be independent from Canada then they need to be able to -

                        a) Afford, it. They're not
                        b) Have more than 50 percent consensus on a decision such like this, they'll always get 40-49 percent consensus on this issue but not enough to say "these people want to separate"
                        c) Be a country that can self sustain, they wont be and they never have been
