Bling is for people trying to impress others with their pretentious lives. Like Burzum indirectly showing off is 'throwing star' next to his prepubescent hand. Actually, I'm really not into any type of jewelry. Especially watches... who needs them? really... there's a clock on a lot of things these days. I pass at least a half dozen places, mostly banks, with clocks on or near their buildings just on the way to work. B)

The reason is I've been seriously into watches and watchmaking these past months; I would even say that had my life not taken a turn towards translating/interpreting, I'd want to be a watchmaker.

I've worn a fairly well-built Adidas quartz since my 18th birthday and it was nothing more than a tool to tell the time when my cell or any other clock wasn't at hand. But when I got this watch, which has a clear caseback, I fell in love with the mechanical movements, especially on wristwatches. The amount of gears and springs and regulators, and jewels and balances and little flying pieces in a relatively simple chronograph movement is a thing of beauty. Perhaps you are yet to discover the zen of observing a mechanical movement in silence.

My father in law was telling me over Thanksgiving about this amazing bartender at some bar he frequented who could shake a martini and fill it to the rim with no leftovers and he thought it was the coolest thing he'd ever seen. I then proceeded to his home bar and made four martinis in one shaker with unfamiliar glassware and a non standard shaker and did the same thing. From that moment forward I knew he had no compunction about my cock ever being in his daughter's mouth.

got this for my 21st birthday

anyhow it's not a particularly good watch , it's a kinetic one and i lost it down the back of my desk once for a month or 2 and when i found it again it was still running

i won't replace it till i loose it or it breaks !

then i'd probably get a solar powered one

Originally my dads, but I liked it so I asked if I could have it. : )

Solar-powered, and the day of the week can be displayed in English or Chinese, which I found pretty nifty. I used to want the big clunky watches like Scoops, but I've found that all those dials are useless to me, and I seem to like simple designs better.

I don't like the feel of watches on my wrist

It aggravates the cuts I have.

This one, but then simpler (only 1 thingy on the side and not those 3 thingies inside)

Maybe God was the first suicide bomber and the Big Bang was his moment of Glory.

yeah i used to roll with a timex expedition, it didn't leave my wrist for 3 years. it stayed on my wrist even when the battery died, but some months ago it finally wore out - the band literally just gave way.

when i dress/accessorize, my main motivation is, "if i had to, could i never take this off?", followed by "can i put it on and not worry about it?". metal-band watches break both rules. they're heavy as shit and get caught up on my wrist so i can't wear it while doing any physical activity, and i have to take it off during sleep, showers, etc

found my current watch at a garage sale. it might be the only exception to my personal rules, because it's so effing gorgeous to look at while on drugs, not to mention a chick magnet. it clamps shut so i can wear it all day (even during physical activities), but i do remove it for sleeping
