J-Rome: My arguement was to pull-out using a structured plan and not all at once. And this isn't black or white, dude. Neither one of us can say "if we do this, it leads to eventual stabilization." Possibly it does, yeah. Possibly it doesn't. I agree with getting out of there, but to just say "Fuck it, EVERYBODY OUT. GET TO THE CHOPPA" doesn't seem logical to me for a variety of reasons.

He has far more about Iran and the Middle East under the Foreign Policy tab which explains exactly what "the most aggressive diplomatic effort in recent American history," is. Their words, not mine.

As you can see too, he's not in support of an overnight pullout. He plans to give it about a year and a half and maintain a very minute military presence over there. He also doesn't favor building a base which I disagree with somewhat, but I understand that he feels building a base will further upset matters and continue the same tradition of US occupation that got us into this mess.

Why do you disagree with not building a base in Iraq?

I know that the vast majority of the Middle East would not be pleased if the US decided to build a permanent base in Iraq and would use it to stage sorties into other areas of the Middle East.

I'd have thought the US would've learned from their prior mistakes in the KSA.

But IMO this is one of the problems the world has with the US, I don't need no frikken US Military base in the Netherlands, we have our own military and it works fine. Its our country, gtfo.
