The bass is there if you make use of the EQ, which is not really the purist way, but what can you do.. though certain music styles that are less "full" than rock, metal and so on, allow the driver enough breathing room to produce sufficient thump. But I expect a definitive improvement with the triple.fi 10 that arrive in the mail next week, then we can have a chat ^^ Plus a surprise! ha ha I'm giggling like a schoolgirl just thinking of what I ordered..

I am jealous of all this extra money you have to spare! I got the westone UM1's. They're the entry level iem's for westone but i have heard good things about it. I saw the er4 for around 170 ish on a website and really wanted to buy it, but the microphonics are bad from what I heard, and I would like to wear my iems when i walk to school and around campus, which would cause problems. Westones seem to have a good reputation for comfort and the lack of microphonics (since the wire goes around the ear), so hopefully it will be an upgrade from what I have now (head-direct re2's).

triple.fi 10's, lucky you! One day I will be able to afford UE.11 pro or maybe shure se530's, but I probably will not.

I am actually curious on what this surprise is ! ! afhsidofsa

I own the same mp3 player as Burz ... it's pretty good for the price. I also own the Shure SE530 ... don't buy them because they're not worth the money. There is a noticeable cutoff in the high freq. Details are nice though. I also realize that IEM's really are finicky and fairly annoying to put in, get a good seal, and take out, so I use Yuin PK2 earbuds which are my favorite headphones I use. Like what most head-fi.org users say, the standard koss plugs with modifications, koss ksc75, and creative ep-630 are worth getting for cheap but decent enough upgrades from standard ipod or whatever earphones.

          for people with iPods:

Does anyone use an alternative method to iTunes to add/remove music to their iPod? If so, what's a good choice? I'm not a big fan of iTunes.

Thanks, i can't believe i didn't know this. Fuck itunes/ipod and it's non-intuitive methods. Seriously, i like the ipod, but i would LOVE it if i could make an enqueue list like in winamp (essentially a playlist within a playlist). I hate the fact you can't pick a song to come up next w/o ending the one you're on (unless i just don't know how to do this either )

I hated iTunes too and just installed rockbox and copied files over.

Not to dispute the qualities of Yuin buds, but I felt a certain resentment towards IEMs before ordering my Etys too. I was terrorized just thinking of sticking rubber things one centimeter deep into my canals.. now I'm completely sold on the concept and wouldn't, couldn't even, go back to normal buds for the life of me. It's just that much of a difference sitting on the crowded bus, Etys sitting deep inside your ears, Meizu rocking along at volume 10. Just to think of what all the people on the buses and metros with iPods turned up to max volume are doing to their eardrums..
And I agree that head-fi is THE premier source for all things portable. I wasn't even afraid going straight for a new pair of UEs, knowing that I can sell them on the forums at a small loss, should they not suit me in any way.

iPod classic 160 gig holds all my music, all my photos (including my portfolio) all my video (including seasons 1-4 of the office, and several full length movies) and has room left over to operate as a portable harddrive. battery length is good; video sucks it up but you can adjust the brightness and that makes a huge difference. some of the new features on the interface are cool, like the coverflow, but that doesnt affect the performance at all, really. i just like being able to have literally all my media with me, and it serves as a back up in case my macbook crashes (which it hasn't).

play options (shuffle, on the go, playlists, etc) are convenient if thats what you're looking for...i tend to create 'smart playlists' that automatically group genres or artists that i'm looking for, and then put that on shuffle.

overall i dont see any cons. i certainly would take the classic over the touch, though.

also, all the 'cons' listed about iPods have been false/incorrect.

iTunes itself is a personal preference, i suppose, but i like it.

The thing is that I was never able to find ANY good fit with the Shures ... I tried all their plugs, sponges, flanges, whatever. Either my ears are weird or I have mutant ear canals. What I did like was the fit of the Creative EP630 which is one of the few canalphones that you really can pop in and out easily and gives a decent isolation.

I have a feeling that the smaller the canalphones the better fit you can have ... so maybe I need to try to Etys or something like that one Swedish tiny 'phones whose name escapes me (q-jays?).

Earplugs have never fitted me, I have always used normal headphones.

can also add albums, artists and genres.

ITT i finally learn how to use my ipod

Anyone know if Itunes offers an unlimited download package? Like a montly charge, and then unlimited (or close to it) downloading?

I know Zune lets you d/l most albumns for 15.99/mo. or something like that.

Just wondering if I can get legit music w/o paying for each song/album individually.
