Well, Philly is sorta boring to be honest. I attended Penn State for a bit and to be honest there isn't all that much to do. It's okay but not amazing. And no, don't try to walk up to a random black guy. Philly is decently covered in cops. Your best bet is to head over to NYC and get a taste of the city. Some good venues to check out are The Knitting Factory, Bowery Ballroom, Hammerstein Ballroom, Webster Hall, Nokia Theatre, etc.

If you're a fan of Cold War Kids and Okkervil River, I think they are playing in mid October down at Webster Hall.
