I just got the DS update, though it's a port of the Playstation remake which I believe was exclusive to Japan. They give the people in each of the chapter different accents which is an interesting touch and well beyond a simple translation.

Phantasy Star IV > Phantasy Star II



Lufia II is already losing some of it's fun, as the puzzles aren't very challenging, and the enemies are fairly simple. Yet to have someone die.
