Healthcare in America stops being the best in the world

In its present form, it's not.

People who are smarter, better, or worked hard to get what they have deserve the benefits of their successes. IE better doctors, not waits, first class on an airplane, and all of the other luxuries that makes being successful worth it.

Have you ever known someone who doesn't have health care? I do. It's not neccessarily a lack of willingness to work that strikes someone from having it--it's often a simple question of "do I put food on the table or do I pay for health care?" There are a lot of people who work 2-3 jobs and still can't get health care, either because it isn't offered at their business and/or their total wages aren't high enough to afford it. Do you work 2-3 jobs? My guess is that you don't. Well, then I guess you're a lazy piece of shit.

And on the other end of the spectrum, what about inherited wealth? Those people most likely didn't do shit to get to where they got. They can afford health care (currently), but they don't fit your rubric. They've done nothing to earn the right to health care other than be born into money by luck of the draw.

To label people who can't afford health care (and it's STILL a broken system) to be "lazy," "dumb," or somehow "worse"... well fuck, man. That's some stupid, ignorant shit. I'll agree with you that there are probably some people who will game the system, but there's always that group. In ANY circumstance.

Then again, I'd expect nothing less from the guy who's part of the shitparade that's killing these forums.

I have been on these forums for over six years, and made over 4000 posts, I don't think "I am killing the forums" first off, secondly no I don't know anyone who doesn't have health insurance because everyone I associate with has a job that offers health insurance, I don't know what kind of fucking jobs don't have health insurance, people have two and three jobs trying to get it? Any fucking chain restaurant, burger king, mcdonalds or any shithole of a job in America offers it. I mean seriously you would think if people were getting second and third jobs just to pay for health insurance they would just get a second job that offered it in the first place. Again there are people like single parents, people who are actually physically or mentally unable to work, etc etc etc. But we already have medicare, medicaid, and food stamps for people who are seriously that down and out. And I don't know how many times I am going to have to say this but Houston does have some of the best health care in the world, I would say THE top health care. If socialized medicine is so great why the fuck do the rich politicians that want it still get treated in America? Obviously the system isn't broken or else the people who could afford to go to "better" systems would do so. It isn't hard to get a better job here in Texas, I am getting job offers out the ass, in fact I am starting a new job in a few weeks, pays much more so I am pretty excited about it.

M.D. Anderson is the best cancer research and treatment hospital in the world.

Texas Childrens is the best childrens hospital in the world

Shriners is the best burn care hospital in the world.

Methodist and St.Lukes are up there with some of the better hospitals.

The University of Texas Medical Branch is THE top research and treatment center in the entire world.

All within 20 miles of my house, odd that we are in the top 5 worst for health care.

You are right I have never been on public assistance because I made good choices in life, I didn't get my girlfriend pregnant when I was 16, I worked hard and dealt with a lot of shit to have what I have today.

Even restaurants like Chili's and Applebee's offer health care for next to nothing, just because someone doesn't want to lower themselves to that kind of position to get health care doesn't mean they deserve it any more. If you have to work part time at McDonalds as a fry cook and get health care, usually large businesses like that soak up the majority of the costs anyways.

I have compassion for people who deserve it, a wife of three kids has a father killed or murdered somehow deserves something to help her make it through it because it isn't fair to them, although he should have had life insurance. Someone who doesn't feel like working because they are lazy and would rather draw unemployment, someone who is on my country and state ILLEGALLY, anyone who thinks it is their god given right to be TAKEN CARE OF their entire life instead of having to contribute to society I have no compassion for.

Shriner's Hospitals for Children

I would like to just make a statement. First, I mostly agree with the ranking critria; however, you should include honorary mentions for each top hospital in a specialty. Second, I would like to make a point about a specific specialty; Orthopaedics. The Shriner's Hospitals for Children are the most repected hospitals for orthopaedic and burn care. The research that is being used in a good number of hospitals was originally done at Shriner's. This said, it is not the "best" childrens hospital in the ranking performed here, but it is a specialty children's hospital that IS the best at orthopaedic and burn care.

Now for the best part of this amazing hospital; the cost....

ABSOLUTLY FREE!!! That is correct. These hospitals do NOT even have a billing department, and they spend over a million dollars a day per hospital!
