Hes basically threatening to give us fucking gay health care anyways even though a majority of Americans don't want it, we are over 9 trillion dollars in debt after only one year of him being in office, he is pushed around by leaders from other foreign countries. Over all he is a terrible President and probably won't be reelected in 2012.

I appreciate the insight from Canadians and Eurotrash when it comes to American Politics. However you have no clue what the hell you are talking about. Obama has been slipping in the polls to numbers similar to Bush's over the last few weeks because he is trying to convince America that we need this stupid fucking health care plan instead of just listening to us, he thinks his job is to be a salesmen when his job is to listen to the public and make decisions based off of that. There is a reason his approval rating has fallen over 10% in the last two months.

Let me tell you a story about my girlfriend's aunt's husband's nephew, he came to the United States recently to visit, he had a history of seizures etc etc but had been checked out by his general practitioner in his homeland of Scotland. After having a seizure while visiting Houston his parents decided to get him checked out in Houston, it turns out he had a large tumor near his brain stem that his doctor in Scotland hadn't found. So the doctor at Texas Childrens Hospital in Texas offered to do the surgery for free, and have it taken care of in a week, (partly because the parents had originally refused and the doctor thought it was a money issue although that wasn't the case). Anyways the parents refused and went back to Scotland because they had been told that it would be taken care of when they returned to their home country, upon returning they went to the appointment that they were given by their health care system only to find out it was just a general checkup by the general practitioner who had failed to find the tumor in the first place. It is now going to be another two or three years until he is able to get his surgery because it is so backed up.

There are plenty of horror stories when it comes to socialized medicine, and no matter how many people tell us how great it is, they are also generally healthy people, you wouldn't be so eager to tell everyone how great it was if you had a real disease and you had a government doing the math on the value of your life, whether it was cheaper to fix you or just make the rest of your life comfortable based on your age and how bad the sickness was. It isn't what our country wants, and it isn't good for any country to have because of situations like the above one I just mentioned. It reduces the quality of care, it reduces the ability to get care, and it basically destroys morality on many levels when a mathematician basically sees your existence as a numerical figure. It pretty much destroys the Hippocratic Oath because the government is paying the doctors salary there are alternative motives when caring for a patient.

It isn't a good system, and I am happy to know that the parents of the kid who has the tumor have decided to fly back to America to get the surgery at Texas Childrens, and that it will be taken care of by the best childrens hospital in the world in just over a week from today.

My cousins from england had the same experience kthx mentioned. My cousin was in a car accident and it took 3 months to get 1 set of x-rays. I rather have a doctor do them the day of if needed and not wait 3 months because the government chooses thats the right time.
