im pretty sure NOBODY cares about ohio or its climate..seeing how its the same as teh rest of THE MIDWEST

and if you have seen any other states weather besides southernstates u basically have Ohio

anyways phoenix may be hotter in temperature but i guarantee you houston FEELS hotter hell even here in mexico in monterrey where i am now its 104 degrees ALL day and houston is still hotter...why? cuz its dry here like in phoenix...the desert gets cold at night, we dont.. it stays at 90 degrees all night...in phonix i can walk outside and not sweat even tho im baking...try that in houston..doesnt matter if ur 100lbs or 500lbs u walk outside and u WILL sweat i think everyone from h-town would agree

Isn't there a really nice suburb of Houston called Sugar Land or something? I been there once to harass ph's grandmother, but I didn't check out any real estate. Is it a real ritzy area? I got money for a move, but don't want to spend every dime I've earned ya know? Doing research....if it wasnt for that Hurricane Ike, I would have def considered Galveston Bay, looks (looked) nice there.

                good balance

                Savannah, GA.

It's a b-e-a-u-t-i-f-u-l city. There's a beach like 30 mins away. It's a medium sized city. The weather's nice -- hot and muggy in the summer, but it's on the coast so the ocean breeze helps.

If you've got money (and like golf) then Hilton Head, SC or Jeykll Island, GA. both are beautiful and cater to rich northerners to an extent.

Also, despite being right between North Carolina and Florida, Savannah's got like a 1-5% or less of having a hurricane hit on a yearly basis.

I'll agree with you whole heartedly dank. I was stationed in Savannah for a few years and even made enough rank to move off post and actually live in the city for a year. My girlfriend at the time loved Tybee Island, and I loved that everything you could ever need was only a couple minutes away. Unfortunately, I would never consider Savannah again for it is a Military city, and there are just way too many people I would never want to see again.

I've been looking into Indiana, kinda random I know. They got some of the best looking homes there, and its cheap as fuk. Doesnt solve my weather problem though. Does it snow in Australia?

I grew up and recently moved from San Diego, I already miss it I have a somewhat related type of dilemma: where could I move that is not southern California but still feels (weather) and seems (beaches, culture) like California? So far it seems Florida would generally be similar...except for the humidity. I agree with everyone else, dry heat is waaaay better than 100% humidity. Yuck.

Also: EST is the center of the nation? wah? Us PST'ers dont give a single thought about EST'ers. Pfft.

Anyways, I can give some details about San Diego. Very pretty and relaxed type of culture. It can get about 105 at the hottest time of the year, but generally stays around 75-85 during the summer. In the winter, hmm it has gotten close to 32 degrees a few days, but mostly around 55 at the coldest time, sometimes it will hover at 70 for a while. Of course this is all based on my memories so my numbers may not be extremely accurate.

Living near the beach, be prepared for a lot of overcast days. Also, once you get past the palm trees and clear skies, some people think SoCal is ugly compared to the East Coast. Definitely not a lot of greenery--it is a desert area after all. Also, be prepared for very little noticeable change in the seasons. A lot of my relatives from the midwest lived here for a few years but eventually moved back. One of the reasons why was that they missed having seasons.

If you miss the snow there is Big Bear, Lake Arrowhead and Mammoth, but they are about an 8 hour drive.

Living in Hilton Head? Gotta be kidding me. Even the OK Golf courses there cost around 400 a round. The homes in the area are gigantous. There average age in Hilton Head is like 60+. Tourists go down there for 1 round a year to play a truly great golf course (green fees costing around 1-2 grand for 18) IF they can afford forking over the cost + Hotel expenses. Unless you somehow have family there and have the hookups to play there free, then hell ya go for it.

yeah actually living there would be incredibly $$$ (and boring b/c of the old people). I threw it in there with the Savannah idea since it's within the bounds of a 'day-trip' if you wanted to do it. The beaches and forest are pretty cool too, but i imagine it's only cool for about a week. There are actually a good many poorer people who live in the back of the island and right across the bridge, but you're not going to see any of them if you're at the golf course or beach. But yeah, that whole area is pretty military oriented, so if you want to avoid marines/navy i'd avoid that whole region.
