Fucking Unions never gave us anything.

The average pay for an autoworker is $28 an hour which is a far cry from 89,000 a year. You're using bad statistics Hate the Fake. Entry level wages for the Big Three can be as low as $12 an hour. The scewed statistics that you are using average the payout by dividing it among active workers as opposed to separating for pension funds to the vast number of retirees.

And as for the inventions you're talking about, those are inadvertent discoveries that were originally intended as means of war. The vast amount of government grants that go into research in Universities has much higher bang for your buck in terms of real innovation and technological breakthroughs. So once again it's a misguided sense of perspective.

The reason we don't want the auto-industry to fail Izor is because it will turn this deep recession into a depression. The last thing you do in an economic crisis is let 250,000 more people get laid off in one giant swoop. Especially working class people that will not have an easy time finding other work and will flood the already diminishing job market for lower wage jobs pushing the truly unskilled labor force completely out of work. The military you speak of depends exclusively on taxpayer dollars, because the military does not create revenue it only eats it up at an alarming rate in the most wasteful fashion imaginable. A report came out just recently on the loss of 100 billion dollars in reconstruction money for Iraq because of the Pentagon's poor planning and execution. Here:

    http://www.nytimes.com/2008/12/14/wo...t.html?_r=1&hp

There is an extremely misguided sense of perspective blaming so much on the auto-industry. The financial crisis was caused by predatory lending practices and credit default swaps that spread pernicious amounts of risk into vital economic institution's balance sheets. Where is the lynch mob to take down those bastards in pinstripe suits who walked away from this mess asking for end of the year bonuses? Here:

I believe all should prosper not just those who are in a position to exploit others. But ever since Reagan there has been this philosophical black hole that has dragged conservative working class people into believing that policies that only benefit the rich are the best for this country. I say emphatically that they are not.

While your conservative leader decides to handle foreign relations in the worst possible way to "secure the world" (or "maximize benefits for the U.S."; kinda ironic huh, given our current state), your Republican administration has single-handedly fucked up the world's economic system.

Continue making useless devices for a military that will hopefully cease to exist in the upcoming age, when people finally grow to understand the importance of unity and peace, and how necessary these values are to the prolonging of humanity.
maybe you should read a book before making such laughable assertions

People in the auto union make far more than me, and often times theyre doing just as much as I do at my home station (nothing). Why are we all (cause taxpayers ARE the ones paying for the bailout, ill remind you) going to pay for this? At least my salary that taxpayers have to pay for has a purpose when I deploy...these guys will do absolutely nothing for us, except occasionally produce a car that we may or may not even want to buy (in most cases I'd say not)

I've said my peace. No reason to repeat it. And I've actually been to union shops before and those people do indeed work very hard at extremely labor intensive jobs. People deserve respect and a competitive salary no matter what their occupation. Just because you've never worked an honest day's pay in your life don't cry over someone that does.

What you mean is "Unions overwhelmingly support the Democratic party because it enables them to get overpaid to do mostly nothing for 8 hours a day and get money that they dont deserve for the skills they bring to the table."
