Theres no evidence that that kid underperforms in school. Plus, its mainly people that are already lazy and underperformers that pick up smoking weed. Theres no reason to keep marijuana illegal. I know plenty of people who fucked up enough to drop out of school thanks to marijuana, and now work dead end jobs to fund their habit. EDIT: That point still stands, but its not what I'm arguing. Yeah I used to be pro marijuana, fuck the government when I was like 16 also, but then I got a real job that required a drug test and realized who the fuck cares. I think most people that smoke argue to keep it legal until they realize nobody really fucking cares if pot is illegal or not. I still smoke maybe once every few months or so between drug tests but I am not going to whine about it being legal. It is just a phase that people go through.. the "im a stoner and I want everyone to know that weed is awesome and should be legal" phase.

that kid's essay is shit, and i agree his "did it to prove a point" bs is probably what the lawyer told him to say at this point or something he fabricated after the fact. and in order to make a point effective, you actually gotta be persuasive and logical....he doesn't seem to have that going for him.

in terms of marijuana restriction laws, i am very much in favor of the city i live in's laws: Seattle. the current law is that if you are caught in possession of less than 1/8th of an oz of marijuana all the cops can legally do is confiscate it unless you are a criminal offender. that seems reasonable to me, because having beyond that on hand at any time is overindulgence and we cross the line of the benefits of marijuana into the problems that come w/ overexposure. and what does Seattle gain from these awesome laws? BOOYAH smartest city in America! suck it bitches!
