The movie is so awesome that after watching it for free, I'm going to go and PAY to watch it in the theater as an award to the people involved in making it. It is worth paying to watch it a second time; it's such a great movie. Then when it comes out on DVD, I'm going to purchase that as well.

I've heard nothing but good reviews about this movie, think I will go see it for sure.

Same. I thought it looked stupid and had no intention of seeing it. Now I'm considering watching it online.

It should easily burry GI Joe in the box office. GI Joe...what is next He-Man and She-Ra? Hmmm I wonder who could play Skeletor?

Dist. 9 was well worth seeing. I enjoyed it.

It has an 81 rating which is extremely high for a novice (to movies) director.

this Neil guy should direct the next transformers movie.

but seriously this is a great action movie that's really about classism, racism (speciesism?), ethnic tensions, love, boning alien chicks without a rubber, voodoo, elitism, government coverups, corporate scandals, greed, exploitation, cat food, and inevitable bureaucracy.

This movie was spectacular. Without re-iterating, I'd say that they chose an unlikely protagonist for the movie and it made the movie that much more effective.

hm... roger ebert rated it as 3/5 stars....which means moderately good in his books... alien apartheid.....dunno if i really feel like watching that today....maybe another day...on a side note! myazaki's new film ponyo was given 4 stars by ebert and i will be watching that! god damn hayao myazaki is amazing

anyways i think i will give this movie a shot before i go see inglorious basterds sometime in the near future, would be a nice comparison i suppose.

Roger Ebert is a moron who rescinds his god-awful reviews when they prove to be flat wrong.

ponyo was ok, but nothing groundbreaking. I was kind of disappointed, especially since Miyazaki made it.

District 9, on the other hand, had a goddamn pig launcher. Awesome movie.

BUT, the best movie I've seen so far is The Hurt Locker. Incredible tension throughout the movie and a message that is neither bleak nor hopeful. Plus well acted, well shot (by the woman who made "Point Break" ffs), etc. etc.

                          Anyone seen it?

My only problem with District 9 was the hand held camera feel. Something about the shakiness drives me bananas (same in Cloverfield and the Blair Witch Project).

Other than that it was a great film.
