Also I am assuming you think that the government health care is going to fix any of that, they are going to pay even less after it runs out of money and even fewer places are going to accept it.

Much research and discovery was done before the company even bought the gap insurance, and by people who know what they are doing. Additionally, we were aware of what was and wasn't covered before going into the hospital. I sat with the surgeon and argued with him about when to release her. he said, 'I have no reason to keep her in the hospital.' I said, 'I have about 7000 reasons to keep in one more day'. But he was the one in control of this decision. During times like this you shouldn't have to have this kind os hit to deal with. So dont make it out to be that we were just stupid consumers. The point is, the more rules that are in place, the more insurance companies will figure out how to play them.

Insurance is nothing more than gambling. In fact, that is where the insurance industry came from. Lloyd's of London (first insurance company) came from people sitting in pubs and betting on which merchant ships would make it back to port. Note that before insurance, people had to rely on their extended families, community, and church for support when things went bad.

The government needs to stay out of the health insurance business and as far as I am concerned, the insurance industry can go fuck itself. People should be resonsible for their own actions and understand that they need to figure out and count on only themselves for potential future health costs.

Do you know what our unemployment rate would be if we weren't out bombing other countries and stationing troops in bases around the world. Not only that, but if the government orders one hundred bombs to be built then it helps a lot of different industries (steel, plastics, microprocessors, chemical plants, etc). And two weeks later they can order more bombs and pump more money into the economy.

Where are you drawing this from? I was under the impression that their unemployment rate is still relatively high and that their GDP growth rate isn't improving. I suppose Japanese people could feel confident about their economy, but I don't see why.

As far as health care reform goes, I would actually like to see something within the current system fixed, not create a new system with a government run plan. Can someone explain to me why a government run plan is necessary and why the government can't just pass a bill that reforms the way the current system works? Serious question.

And after Obama's "stimulus" plan I don't think I'll be too impressed by what he accomplishes with health care reform. Obama even takes credit for Bush's TARP in his speeches, which really annoys me.

is it true that the pipe dream people want is the Congressional model? that is, people want to take the awesome healthcare service that our congressmen get, and merely give extend that to everyone? if this is so, then i think public education is a bigger issue than health. of course we can subsidize a small, priveleged few. we can't stretch that to the public.

Former Arkansas GOP Gov. Mike Huckabee on Sunday defended his remark last week suggesting that recently-deceased Sen. Ted Kennedy (D-Mass.) would have been told to “go home to take pain pills and die” if he had been covered under President Barack Obama’s proposed health care overhaul.

In his weekend Fox News show “Huckabee,” the 2008 Republican presidential candidate said his remarks were overblown and taken out of context.

“I spoke on my radio show and pointed out that when Senator Kennedy was diagnosed with terminal cancer, he chose to fight with all that was within him and to do that for life instead of choosing the pain pill that President Obama spoke of in his answer to James Stern during his White House town hall meeting,” Huckabee said.“George Stephanopoulos, Time magazine, Huffington Post and scores are liberal bloggers have gone berserk, saying I have made things up.”

Huckabee then challenged the media that covered the comment.

“What did I say that wasn’t true?” he asked. “Listen to what I said. It was actually a tribute to Senator Kennedy and an observation that he did what Americans would want to do, follow the best healthcare they can find.”
