In fact, a lot of Canadians own land in American, considering that a house in a suburb surrounding Toronto ranges from $250,000 - $400,000 for a 3-4 bedroom, a lot of Canadians are moving south to take advantage of houses that are being sold for $75,000-$100,000. Owning land in America isn't something to be all that proud about, the housing markets gone to shit and the ROI is pretty fucking low.

seriously though, for a bunch of people who claim to care, you are all being incredibly nasty

then again, when force and coercion are your preffered tools of compassion, it's understandable. i just got off a six hour shift at the shelter. while you guys are bleeding for the sick, there are homeless people, families out of jobs, all sorts of people who need help. I guess today is not their day. I guess I will wait until Obama proposes universal job care, at which point you will call me heartless for not wanting to 'help' these people.

I don't really know what people do or don't deserve, I'm not so egotistical as to think I would ever know, but I can wager that they don't deserve you people having any say in their lives.

You know what the problem is, if it comes to government's duty to help fix something, then it should be on something that both sides democrat or republican can agree upon that won't take up too much of our time and majority agree on the proclaimed change. This will kind of build up morale and confidence for the next things that we can tackle on this great shit to fix list.

Well the two political parties have different opinions, and even though for the most part they both really suck and a third party would be better I agree more with the republicans when it comes to how the country should be ran. You aren't going to get agreement from two completely different sides of the aisle on something like "huge government takeover".

Considering the amazing amount of medical advances in the intervening years and considering medical inflation (Which has always been higher than normal inflation), it's only 2x more, which isn't that bad at all.

You have to understand that connotations of words change over time and based on the societal context of a word its meaning can transform. I may disagree with wark and find his opinions ill-founded at times, but he isn't a stupid person (despite what my sig points out). I am pretty sure he understands that he lives in a western liberal welfare state. Yes, everyone in this country who buys into it indeed does buy into liberalism and if you want to take the dictionary definition and classify quite literally; yes we are all a bunch of liberals with some leaning towards socialism. However, the words "conservative" and "liberal" in the modern American society have come to represent an idea far larger than the original ideology of liberalism and conservatism. To be rather succinct and brief, they represent a system of moral beliefs which you apply to your political views. So when I sit here and call wark a raging conservative I am referring to the context of modern American society and its connotations of the word, not your dictionary definition. Yeah, be a prick and call technicalities. Please understand language b4 you speak.
