I say let Kim Jong Il make all the decisions for us. I mean the first time he golfed he hit a hole in one.. and then 17 more times. And once I hear he stopped time.

Even more impressive, he does an uncanny Elvis impersonation.

Technically on paper I own a percentage of land in Herica as well, how bout them apples, fucker. I mean, I have vested interest in my land, don't I, don't I? Yeah. In fact, a lot of Canadians own land in American, considering that a house in a suburb surrounding Toronto ranges from $250,000 - $400,000 for a 3-4 bedroom, a lot of Canadians are moving south to take advantage of houses that are being sold for $75,000-$100,000. Owning land in America isn't something to be all that proud about, the housing markets gone to shit and the ROI is pretty fucking low.
I'm planning to use my next bonus to buy the 10,000 square miles of Florida that will be underwater a few years from now.

            • seriously though, for a bunch of people who claim to care, you are all being incredibly nasty

then again, when force and coercion are your preffered tools of compassion, it's understandable. i just got off a six hour shift at the shelter. while you guys are bleeding for the sick, there are homeless people, families out of jobs, all sorts of people who need help. I guess today is not their day. I guess I will wait until Obama proposes universal job care, at which point you will call me heartless for not wanting to 'help' these people.

I don't really know what people do or don't deserve, I'm not so egotistical as to think I would ever know, but I can wager that they don't deserve you people having any say in their lives.

              • Then again, you don't have to be friendly and cooperative when there is the state. Gang up and get power, and screw the losing team. How orderly and effective. Half of you will be bragging in the next few months when they get their way. The other half will be bragging a few months after that when it is found that it wasn't enough, or didn't work. At that point, I will once again say "hey, maybe -" but I will quickly be drowned out. Hell hath no fury like the status quo scorned.

                • You know what the problem is, if it comes to government's duty to help fix something, then it should be on something that both sides democrat or republican can agree upon that won't take up too much of our time and majority agree on the proclaimed change. This will kind of build up morale and confidence for the next things that we can tackle on this great shit to fix list.

                  • Well the two political parties have different opinions, and even though for the most part they both really suck and a third party would be better I agree more with the republicans when it comes to how the country should be ran. You aren't going to get agreement from two completely different sides of the aisle on something like "huge government takeover".

                    • I bet if Obama had mixed it in small stuff first he wouldn't have as much trouble as he is having it now trying to take on the big stuff.

                      Needs to pace himself.

this was the theory that got us here. the only laws that make it past both parties are the ones that have been watered down and porked up.

                        • Huh

*********** At its start, in 1966, Medicare cost $3 billion. The House Ways and Means Committee, along with President Johnson, estimated that Medicare would cost an inflation-adjusted $12 billion by 1990. In 1990, Medicare topped $107 billion. That's nine times Congress' prediction. Today's Medicare tab comes to $420 billion with no signs of leveling off. How much confidence can we have in any cost estimates by the White House or Congress?
this time they must really mean what they say. i mean like, really mean it. not like last time!!

                            It's not that bad...

Between 1966->1990, the CPI went up 4.034 times
                            ftp://ftp.bls.gov/pub/special.requests/cpi/cpiai.txt

Between 1967->1990 the population over 65 grew from 7.78 million to 31.24 million, or 4.01 times.
                            http://www.census.gov/population/soc...-171/Tab12.pdf
                            http://www.census.gov/prod/2001pubs/c2kbr01-10.pdf

                            $107 billion / $3 billion / 4.034 / 4.01 = 2.204

Considering the amazing amount of medical advances in the intervening years and considering medical inflation (Which has always been higher than normal inflation), it's only 2x more, which isn't that bad at all.

I may disagree with wark and find his opinions ill-founded at times, but he isn't a stupid person (despite what my sig points out). I am pretty sure he understands that he lives in a western liberal welfare state. Yes, everyone in this country who buys into it indeed does buy into liberalism and if you want to take the dictionary definition and classify quite literally; yes we are all a bunch of liberals with some leaning towards socialism. However, the words "conservative" and "liberal" in the modern American society have come to represent an idea far larger than the original ideology of liberalism and conservatism. To be rather succinct and brief, they represent a system of moral beliefs which you apply to your political views. So when I sit here and call wark a raging conservative I am referring to the context of modern American society and its connotations of the word, not your dictionary definition. Yeah, be a prick and call technicalities. Please understand language b4 you speak.
lol, okay. So if uneducated people start abusing ideology names, then we -educated people- have to comply to that?

But if you are saying that in your world liberal means socialist then I too hate liberals. And how do you call what you should call a liberal then? I would like to express what I am to you. Please teach me more about the American language... you guys are so progressive, or should I say conservative?
